On the evening of September 14, 1997, The 49th Primetime Emmy Awards were handed out. A few days earlier, The Creative Arts Emmy Awards were announced. The bad news is, out of a possible 12 nominations, The X-Files only won three. The good news is, one of them was the first major Emmy ever won by The X-Files, with Gillian Anderson winning for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series. As for the Best Drama series. . .well, we all know who should have won.
David and Gillian were also there to present the award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Miniseries or Special. David came with his wife Tea Leoni, and Gillian's date was Rodney Rowland (Ed from Never Again), her current boyfriend. For complete information on all of the nominees and winners for this year, check out The Official Emmys Site.
