1) Did you think Fight the Future was 'shippy?
2) On a scale of one to ten (ten being the 'shippiness), how would you rate Fight the Future in terms of 'shippiness?
3) What was your favourite 'shippy scene from Fight the Future?
4) What's your favourite 'shipper moment of Fight the Future, and why did you like it so much?
Here's what some of you had to say:
TAMMYE - When Scully kissed Mulder on the forehead.
kewstar - When Mulder rescued Scully. Fabulous, absolutely fabulous. He *really* cares for *his* Scully!!!!
Charleen - I liked it when Mulder confessed his, 'love' should we say, of Scully. How he couldn't have done it without her and all. Then she was so moved that her eyes started watering and they were about to kiss, but the bee thing, you know.
Jia Min Cheng - The almost kiss. (I really hate that bee!)
M Foster - In addition to the Antartic rescue sequence, my favorite shippy scene was the first scenes on the rooftop of the building in Dallas. It was fun seeing them bickering about protocol and whether or not Mulder panicked when Scully tricked him.
zoooom - Sigh....wow. The near kiss....say no more....blackout. They're so sweet....sigh...
Erin - The final handhold because it was so real and honest - nothing out of the norm.
filephile - I think it's after Mulder resuscitates Scully. They give each other the most loving, tender gaze I've ever seen.
aldalin - Gosh there are so many good moments in that film! Well...I love right after the bee stings Scully, when they pull away from each other, before Mulder realizes she's been stung, he mumbles so ackwardly, "I'm sorry." And the look on her face in the hallway when he's talking to her... I cry every time... It's worse than Titanic!
dana d. - Aarrgghh!! It is soooo difficult to decide! If I definitely had to make a choice I'd say the almost kiss HWS (damn that bee...) but it is not fair to the other 'shippy moments in FTF (Antartic cuddle "stay with me", final handholding and the forehead kiss during the HWS). I definitely have to say that I LOOOOVVEEE the music by MS during the HWS and the Antarctic scene. You can almost say that the music in and of itself makes the whole scene. I'm saying this as a JOKE, but if I ever meet CC or MS I'll shoot them for torturing us by creating such a wonderful show and the music.
Jenna - Personally, I liked them all! But I have to say my fav was after he gave her mouth to mouth and they were looking into each other's eyes and all she said was "Had you big time."
Anastasia Nylund - I loved the confession part. Scully wasn't the only one with tears in her eyes after he said it. I cried all through the movie actually. Well almost...it really showed the love between them!
Dubie - Mulder brought Scully back to life. 'Nuff said really. I mean the world stopped when she stopped breathing. Those nasty aliens were breaking loose and all he could think about was her. I LOVE IT!! And after the "kiss", she smiled, he smiled, and she cracked a joke ("Had ya big time"). There was nothing but the two of them. It doesn't get more 'shippy than that!
mjg - Mulder's confession in the hallway proved how deep down in his soul he needs and loves Scully.
tontomegs - I really really liked when Mulder said all of those things to Scully in the hallway. He obviosly loves her! But it comes really close to the scene after the space ship flies off, when Scully, who was just a moment ago so tired, picks up Mulder and hugs him and puts her cheek on his head! I love that part! She cares so much about him!
Jess - Dude, it's ALL about the almost-kiss! So close...and yet so far...they were both in the moment, they were both wantin' it...methinks that our dynamic duo will never see each other the same way again!
luna - I think it's the almost kiss because after like five years of working together, whats better than a kiss?
Anonymous - Well, I really like the part where Mulder and Scully are in the hallway and when Mulder spills his feelings to Scully. That was really a heart warming scene. Anyway, the CPR that he gives to Scully was also really cute. But I don't understand one thing...when Scully said "I had you" right after Mulder gave her CPR did that mean she was faking it or she was repeating the same phrase from the beginning of the movie to him saying he had that look? Anyway, great site and they should really be together.
Nexus - I loved the part when Mulder confessed to Scully in the hallway. It was just so beautifully written and you could just feel the tension and emotion in the air. And it was sort of angsty, which I love. :)
Beth - I love the hallway confessoin. I absolutely turned into a puddle. The way he just let his feelings out. They just came like a dam burst in his heart. He had to have been craming them in there for years and when he started to let them out he just couldn't stop.
And in response to #6, they might not be a couple but they might do more than hugging. You don't have to be a couple to be passionate flirts. (I would know)
Some other interesting comments:
KenD - To be honest, I hate the idea of any sort of relationship that does not remain platonic. I feel some people want this to head into the "soap opera" genre a bit too much for my liking. Why?
This reinforces the narrow thinking of many fans that a man and woman cannot possibly exist in a close environment without some sort of romantic involvement. This shouldn't become "Cheers" or "Moonlighting". I wish those who want romance would just get over it and enjoy a well-written mystery/sci-fi adventure type show which there are, sadly, too few of these days.
Wow - I hate bees!!!!!!!!!!!
Stacy Stover - Fight the Future
5) How do you think Mulder and Scully's newly deepened relationship will impact the series?
6) Now that Mulder and Scully are evidently closer, where do you think their relationship will go from here?
In summary, most people who saw Fight the Future thought it was quite 'shippy, garnering an average of 8.238 on the 'shippy meter (though it was interesting to note some who thought it was "Sort of" 'shippy ranked it as a nine...) Most people loved the hallway scene, with the "almost" kiss and the confession getting most of the votes. As for what the future has in store for our dynamic duo, well, everyone was fairly concurrent there as well. This deepened relationship will make The X-Files a stronger, better series...but only if Mulder and Scully go no further than hugging and hand holding. I've been saying that for years...
