Being a Pendrell fan myself, I know the pain everyone felt after our favourite lab boy was killed not so very long ago. However, I also know a cure for this pain - watching Pendrell reruns!
During his run as Agent Pendrell on "The X-Files" Brendan Beiser appeared on 10 (count 'em!) X-Files. I have compiled a complete list of these episodes, some great Pendrellisms, and any upcoming Pendrell reruns heading our way. Hopefully, this section will help us all deal with a pain that, although it may lessen with time, never really goes away - the pain of a loved one lost. *sniff*

Episode | Pendrell's Role |
"Nisei" 3x09 |
In this, Pendrell's first appearence on "The X-Files", Pendrell helps Scully analyze the computer chip she found in her neck a few weeks earlier. He informs her that it has state-of-the art microlithography, but that its purpose is still unknown. However, he promises her that he'll keep checking for her. What a nice guy! |
"731" 3x10 |
After doing some more research, Pendrell tells Scully that the computer chip she gave him appears to be able to store biological information coming from a person's brain, and thus, mimick memories. Also, being the astute lab boy he is, he found a manufacturer's name on the silicon matrix of the chip, and managed to turn up a mailing address to a Dr. Zama. Wow! Not bad for the average tech-head, wouldn't you say? |
"Apocrypha" 3x16 |
When Skinner had been shot in the previous episode, Scully turned to Pendrell to help her find the assailant. He analyzed the saliva found on Skinner's shirt, and also did a chromosome-stain on hair fibers picked up at the crime seen. On Scully's urging, he ran these indicators against all suspect found in the Washington area, and ended up finding not only the man who shot Skinner, but also Melissa Scully's assassin. Scully must have been pretty proud of him for that. |
"Avatar" 3x21 |
Although appearing in this episode under a pseudonym, Dr. Rick Webber (I wonder what covert activities Pendrell was doing this week!), our Pendrell managed to help out the dynamic duo yet again. At Mulder's request, he analyzed the airbag from Skinner's car, and found the image of a face on it. This image was not of Skinner, and proved that the AD didn't run his wife off the road! You gotta love this guy - not only has he helped out Mulder and Scully, he's cleared Skinner's name too! |
"Herrenvolk" 4x01 |
On the urging of AD Skinner, Pendrell downloaded data from the five different Jeremiah Smith's work stations at the Social Secruity Administration. There he found over seven hardrives full of unidentifiable files, all locked in password form. After showing this to Scully, who did some digging of her own, they were able to determine that these files were actually records of small pox vaccinations that had taken place in the US over the past 50 years. Both Scully and Pendrell had biopsies taken on their smallpox scars and found that one of the proteins there might actually be a marker, used to catalogue every child to have received a small pox vaccination. See how brave Pendrell is? He's even willing to have some of his own flesh removed to help Scully. |
"Teliko" 4x04 |
When Mulder and Scully found a body that had obviously died under mysterious circumstances, they immediately sent the hair and fiber evidence for Pendrell to investigate. In these materials he found a strange seed, which he determined to be the seed of a rare species of passion flower indigenous to Africa. To find out this information, he even had to go online with a botanist at UVM! Now there's determination. |
"Tunguska" 4x09 |
This episode found Pendrell once more helping his favourite agent investigate a mysterious happening, but this time he got to wear a cool Level 4 "Outbreak" suit! However, he worried that even this protection might not be enough to ward off the toxin that was killing the scientist, and his darling Scully might somehow get hurt. Luckily, his fears were for naught, and as he investigated the strange "death" of the scientist in charge of cutting open the Mars rock, he helped add yet another piece of the complex puzzle surrounding the black cancer. |
"Tempus Fugit" 4x17 |
At the end of this episode, a drunk Pendrell chances upon Scully in a Washinton, D.C. bar. There, he offers to buy her and her companion, Sgt. Frish, birthday girl drinks since it had been Scully's birthday just a few days prior. As he walks/staggers across the room to bring the drinks over to Scully, the Mustached Man walks in. He raises his gun to shoot Srt. Frish, but instead he gets Pendrell squarely in the chest. Scully rushes over to help him, now gasping on the floor, and the episode is to be continued. Ah! I can't stand the suspense! |
"Max" 4x18 |
In this, Pendrell's last appearance on "The X-Files", we begin the episode with a shot and bleeding Pendrell being taken by paramedics to the hospital. A distressed Scully insists they take good care of him. She does not want him to die. However, later the next day, Scully informs Mulder that Agent Pendrell died, shot in an attempt on Srt. Frish in D.C. (insert sobs, crying, and just general blubbering here) At the end of the episode, we hear the regret in Scully's voice as she confides in Mulder that she didn't even know Pendrell's first name. This was indeed a sad day in the history of all X-Files. Rest in peace Agent Pendrell. |
