"Twice dawns the day when his blood is shed. Once for the mourning, once for birth. Red on black, the Dragon's blood stains the rock of Shayol Ghul. In the Pit of Doom shall his blood free men from the Shadow."
- As accounted by Thom (TGH pg.326 HB)From: barney boisvert
The day will dawn like all others, but the Dark One will be released (otherwise there is not way that Rand can fight him) and it will plunge the world into darkness.
The first dawn will be the last dawn of tainted Saidin, the last day of mourning for the taint.
After the Dark One is released, Rand will fight him, and again drive him into the prison the Creator made at the moment of creation, sealing him inside.
How exactly he is sealed is left to be seen, but he will be imprisoned again. Rand will die from the fight. Wounded (perhaps the scar from Falme, as he thinks) he will bleed on Shayol Ghul, but he will press the Dark One back to the Pit of Doom to finish closing him in the prison.
As is described when the Forsaken visit the Pit of Doom, the sky above the Pit of Doom is different from the sky outside, this is literally looking into the prison of the Dark One.
Rand will be consumed by the Pit of Doom by the sealing of the prison, and his blood will cleanse Saidin (freeing men from the Shadow).
Upon the Dark One's reimprisonent and Rands death, the day will dawn again, the dawn of a new Age.
