You walk up to the information booth, and ask the attendant if she has heard any rumors regarding the Tox Uthat. She says, "Yes, I think so. Do you mean the one that says a scientist created a duplicate of the Uthat, hid it underground on this planet, and recently returned to retrieve it when we started mining this planet on a larger scale? There have been many reported sitings of the Uthat at various mining as well as archaeological sites, and they can't all be true, so it is hard to tell where the Uthat really is--where it really was buried, that is. According to the story, the scientist has retrieved it and departed, heading for a Class-M planet somewhere near the Neutral Zone.
"Yes, that's the one," you say.
Of course, you have never heard that rumor before, but asking if she had heard it seemed like an effective way to get the information without attracting unnecessary attention--after all, many people on this planet are asking each other about the rumor, so how conspicuous could the question be?
Another person walks up to the booth and the away team leaves.
You talk to some other residents of the planet, but they tell you only as much as, if not less than, the information booth worker did. Deciding you have found as much information as you can, you call for a beam-up.
