Stolen Moments

By Kiji-kun

The artist formally known as Hayden

Song 'I love you' is by Sarah McLachlan, I don’t own it. Nor do I own the biker mice or Rimfire. I do own Jayne. (And in case your wondering, Jayne was once Hayden. But she undergone a little rewrite.)

I Love You

I have a smile

Stretch from ear to ear

"Rimfire." A familiar female voice cried, in happiness. To human hands covered his eyes. "Guess who?"

Rimfire grinned, knowing only two human females that would not scream at the sight on a 6 foot mouse. "Uhm...Julie?"

"Rimfire..."

"Katherine?"

"I'm gonna hurt you now."

"OH! I know its Jayne!" He finally said turning around and kissing her. And he was rewarded by her kissing him back.

I see you walking down the road

We meet at the lights

I stare for a while

The world around us disappears

"Miss me furry?" Jayne asked. Her green eyes sparkling as she looked up at him.

"Not really...met this really cute girl at a bar the other night..OWCH!" He winced as Jayne pinched him, then grinned at her. "Of course I missed you, pretty lady." Rimfire drawled, kissing her forehead and holding her close.

"I wish you never had to leave again.." she whispered, resting her head on his chest.

"I know, Jay, I know. C'mon lets go for a ride." Rimfire whispered brushing blonde hair out of the youngest Davidson sister eyes.

"Anywhere with you." Jayne whispered back.

Let me surround you

A sea to your shore

Let me be the calm you seek

After almost an hour of drive, Rimfire pulled his bike off the main road down a dirt path towards the lake. "One day Mars will be green like this and I'll be able to show it to you." He told her softly, as the both climbed off the bike and walked hand in hand towards the water.

"I'd be happy looking a dirt as long as I was with you." Jayne told him softly.

"Well that's mostly what Mars is." Rimfire reminded her dryly.

"No, Mars is mostly sand. There IS a difference." She told him sweetly, kissing his nose.

Rimfire grinned goofly at her, warping his arms about her. "This is what I miss the most." He whispered nuzzling her neck.

"Holding me?"

"Yes, that...and listening to your voice...the way you make me laugh. The way you make me forget everything but how happy you make me." Rimfire whispered.

"But you'll still leave tomorrow." Jayne whispered.

"Yes..I will."

Oh, and everytime I'm close to you

There's too much I can't say

And you just walk away

Rimfire stroked her corn-slik hair, with fur covered fingers. Burying in nose in her hair, he breathed her scent in deeply. "You smell so sweet." he mummered.

Jayne buried her face in his chest, relishing the softness of his fur against her skin. "Hold me Rimfire." she whispered almost desperately. "Never let me go."

"I wish I never had to...one day Jayne, I promise the war will be over and we'll be together forever." Rimfire whispered kissing his hair.

"Yes one day the war will be over..but will we live to see that day?" Jayne asked softly.

Rimfire held her to him tighter, she almost thought she felt his arms tremble.

And I forgot

To tell you

I love you

And life's too long

And cold here

Without you

I grieve in my condition

For I cannot find the words to say

I need you so

They stood there in each others arms for an hour, holding on to the other like a lifeline. Neither speaking, barely breathing, till finally Rimfire broke the spell. "We should head back, everyone's probably wondering where we are."

"Your just worried about the lecture you'll get from Modo." Jayne said, trying to lighten the mood that had settled on their heart.

"And your worried about the one you'll sister will give you." Rimfire told her in return, kissing her forehead chaste.

Together they climbed back onto the bike and head back for the last chance garage.

Oh, and everytime

I'm close to you

There's too much I can't say

And you just walk away

They drove in silence till they reached the garage.

"I'll come say goodbye tomorrow." Rimfire started to say.

"Stay..."Jayne whispered. "Stay tonight...please..."her voice trembled has she hugged him.

Rimfire looked down into her wet green eyes and found he couldn't say no.

And I forgot

to tell you I love you

And life's too long

And cold here

Without you

It wasn't till it was almost dawn that Jayne fell asleep in Rimfire's arms, as they lay in her bed. Rimfire lay beside her, his arm warped around her, as one hand stroked her hair. He was tried but he couldn't sleep. He didn't want to chance her not being there when he woke up, he could always sleep when he got to Mars. Right now, he wanted to memorize ever part of the girl sleeping trustingly in his arms.

He wished he could tell her everything he felt in his heart. Wished he could find away to ask her to come back to mars with him. But he could never find the words.

Kissing her forehead, he tightened his arms about her, as if to keep her from disappearing. "I love you." he mouthed into her hair. "Till the day I die."

The first rays on dawn fell on the sleep girl and the mouse who was afraid to close his eyes.

And I forgot

to tell you I love you

And life's too long

And cold here

Without you

I grieve in my condition

For I cannot find the words to say

I need you so

Dedicated to Anyone who ever couldn't say the words that meant the most
