Rating:***** This movie is da bomb! It's got everything: aliens, guns, humor, babes, cool music, and lots o' action! And the story's easy to follow, once you put everything together.
It's basically about MiB agent in training James (Will Smith) with his partner, K (Tommy Lee Jones), and their quest to save a galaxy (which is packed into a tiny sphere) from this evil "bug" (Vincent D'Onofrio). Utilizing the advanced technology of the MiB put into their guns and such, they chase the bug through Manhatten trying to save Earth from total annihilation.
What is really interesting are the plot twists and ever-arising problems for J and K. First, it's unraveling the mystery set before them by the murders of the bug. And then, once on his trail, the alien battle cruisers, who own the galaxy they're trying to save, show up and give the MiB an ultimatum. In order to keep the movie from being just another dark and scary movie about close encounters, some jokes and antics are inserted for the viewers' fun. Like, when agent J is helping to give birth to an alien, it gets a bit stressful for both the agent and the alien. While K and the father converse in the foreground, J is fighting for his life in the background as a huge tentacle grabs him and swings him around and throughout the car! I couldn't stop laughing! Finally, the baby , which looks cute except for all it's tentacles, is born into J's hands. And just when J accepts the baby as "friend", he spits in his face! Yuck!
Anyway, there's a lot of gooey slime in this movie which gets dumped on both stars and other cast members. Even if you are grossed out by what I'm telling you, see it; whether it be for the story, the jokes, the outcome, whatever, then see it right now! You'll have the time of your life as you watch Will and Tommy battle intergalactic baddies into submission. . . with a little help, of course, from Dr. Laurel Weaver.
