After that little skirmish, you'd think Clan Wolf wouldn't cross me again. At least that's what it seemed like. I mean, this year was going great, and the only bad thing I encountered was that Wolf Trinary. Not only was I promoted, but it seems the Keshnik is real pleased with my performances on the battlefield. Now that I command a Trinary of my own, I've accepted new and more responsibilty as a Jade Falcon Mechwarrior. One of those many responsibilities includes a recon mission we're doing on a remote planet not to far from here. Hopefully, we'll meet Clan Wolf, before they meet us, so we can kick their little butts. I just hope they don't spoil this big, upcoming mission.
Anyway, as these thoughts raced through my mind I quietly placed my Timberwolf in its place inside of our dropship. This baby's seen a lot of action, and, although it's coming apart, I still refused the new one the Khan offered me. After all, me and Jenny (hell, I name everything; might as well name my 'mech) have been through a lot together, and it don't seem right to part just yet. I mean, all the damn weapons, even if they don't work all the time, were customized by me! I don't want to see some poor bastard tear up all the hard work I spent on in order to make a killing machine! No, I'll just keep on blasting any Wolf idiot that crosses me with the same, ol' Jenny.
All of a sudden, a great roar shook the cabin! I turned and peered in its direction. There in front of the Clan Hall stood an Ghost Bear Star! Unprepared for the onslaught, I got my weapons ready to take on a Warhawk, Kodiak, and Atlas. "C'mon, guys,"I yelled into the comlink,"Get ready to kick some Ghost Bear butt!" Charging off the dropship, my fellow Jade Flacons raced to confront the enemy ahead.
A barrage of lasers, PPCs, and missles met us dead on. We shook it off, and continued after those bastards. Opening fire upon them, our shouts and firings shook the earth and broke the quiet serenity of the night. My heavily armed Timberwolf and I took out the Kodiak, while my subordinates attacked the Atlas and Warhawk. Confirming that I had destroyed the 100-ton 'mech sent shouts of joy through the comlink from my fellows. Turning to fight by their side, I used my medium lasers to immobilize the enemies, as I did with that Summoner not too long ago. Then the 'mechs around me sent volley after volley of SRMs, penetrating the Ghost Bear 'mechs' armor and annihilating the pilots to kingdom come.
Injured physically, but not mentally, we headed back to the dropship. What the hell was a Ghost Bear Star doing here? Man, this little fight with those idiots delayed the mission by about half an hour. But half an hour is eveything when you bring it up to the Khan. Man, this could cost me my rank. Hell, it could cost me my life! That new Khan is nice, but not when presented with disappointing news. Maybe I could make up for it by completing this mission early. Yeah, I mean, what's so hard about looking around some dead planet. It's a waste of time, really. But, orders are orders, and I gotta obey them. Sighing heavily as we got ready for lift-off, I slowly drifted into the land of dreams, where a big surprise was waiting to ease all of my worries...
As soon as we landed I strapped on all the gear necessary to explore this new world. Who knows? This planet could smell like a ton of potpurri, or could end up smelling like my toilet. So, not wanting to find out, I attired my already cramped body with all the life support systems you could ask for. Looking out onto the surface as the dropship's door opened, I saw a desolate world; a desert, plagued by the fury of the sun overhead and strong winds which carried the sand-like ground this way and that. Reluctantly I stepped on the ground, waiting to fall as if the whole place was quicksand. Relieved that it was not, I felt it somewhat necessary to run around the place. It's easy getting cramped in a stupid ol' dropship, even if there's a lot of room in your cockpit.
Then my eyes strayed over a glint of metal about a dozen yards from my 'mech. Hurrying over to it, I simultaneously relayed a message to the others inside that I had found something. As soon as everyone was gathered around, we all scanned it and did all of that inspecting crap we learned from our Training Instructor when we were cadets. Picking up nothing, besides that it was metal, I decided to get a closer look by bending Jenny over. A look of utter surprise washed over my face. "Well?" said Steven, one of my subordinates. "What the hell does it say?!" yelled Noori, another one of my officers.
"Terra,"I replied, a bit shaky,"Welcome to Terra. That's all..."
