Entrevista 24h living

¿Desde cuándo llevas pintando?
Stickering/postering 5 years
.

Frustration over the uncritical massa called society.
No particular influence. more in general all that was/is going on around me.
others did it. it = trying to comunicate
brands comunicate with one goal: controle over markets and people.

Cuando tú empezaste a pintar..¿qué otras firmas había? ¿Había
alguna que te gustara especialmente?

In Madrid i think i did not see any except for tags.

The way brands comunicated their messages.

If you refer to tagging, i do not know their names, even though the picture of their tag
stayed in my mind. not for the quality, but for pure quantity.
I do not believe in tagging with "rotuladores". They seem to be a reflection of the product the big brands created.
a society empty, acting as sheep. a society loosing their identity. to me they only show the desperate need for an "own" identity.
the only massage they comunicate to me: I exist.
Tthey do not provoke the mind to develope.
They do only cause anger.
The first i recognized, while i did my thang was EL TONO and EL RODILLO.

I believe the peak of grafiti as we know it is over. in general ithink they are a reaction to the visual noise comercials created.
it was a subversive reaction to an overkill of sensless "information".
Brands like diesel, calvin klein (crave) are now using the same subversive methods. creating an image of beeing at the core of new developments.
fact is they closed the circle of action and reaction.
grafiti, tagging, stickering, postering has won the battle. brands follow this style.
the horizon i see in this crossover. it is the chance to direct brands. they follow
brands/economy are our governments. in a democracy the massa creates the leaders. if the massa has no vision, the leaders won't neither
the comunication of vision as message within streetart is essential for its autonomous survival.
problem is too much sensless taging and technically or creativly bad work, or stuff that is just like a dog pissing on a tree. these "works" might steel the oportunity.
it is fact, streetart has a voice, that by now is heard. what is missing is more articulated visions/opinions within the work.
i see streetart as a political tool to participate activly in societie's developments.

Our system is defined through fear and controle. streetart is the reaction. the desire to not be paralized by this fact.
Massive tagging in my opinion is a trend, that might be over in the near future.
Taking the answer to your previous question in consideration streetart might have a future of importance.
It is essential though that streetart maintain it's autonomous status.

Any zone. as long as the work does not pay disrespect to other "art" such as for example architecture, antique or contemporary or other streetart.
I choose spontanious. places where the work profits without destroying or the spectator profits because the work and the place interact / complement eachother and for this amplify the message.
I must admit though that this is the ideal situation; often it is purely because they are visible from most angles.

My style is plakativ, clean and simple. aestethics and quality are important.
the works are small and not screaming. i try to let the content do the trick.
Style is important but must be treated with flexibility to be able to evolve, otherwhise style becomes a prision

I never did grafiti______started right off with stickers. did not get introduced, it was more a general observation o the rebirth of streetart, after the 90's where kinda dead concerning streetart.

¿Sueles pintar en solitario? ¿con quién sueles pintar?
i do my thang allone or i have my interns do some work.

I try to provoke a questionmark in the head of the one that sees my work.
a questionmark behind the form of how we'r living.
to progress one has to question.
The globaltrend might be towards essentials. (this might be a positive side effect of 9/11)_______"what do i need another pair of nikeez for? because they tell me so? but then what do i need? i don't know, who am i, where am i, what is my function. i speeddial and multitask, but what for?"________
basically i just want to put questions out there. in the hope people find the same answers i do. not that my answers must be the correct ones, but as there are as many realities as there are people, and each one believes his/her reality is true and for this right, i do believe i am on the right track at least.
i might be wrong_________that's why i keep on questioning myself.

Consideras al graffiti como....
A political tool if used smart.

An icono is playing with more than only oneselve
It can be removed, causing no damage
.
Desperate need for identity, the need to comunicate...... i believe i answered this question within the answers above.

¿Nunca te han pillado pintando?

No never got caught. maybe because i try to respect and work in a way that does not offend. like this people are more open to look at the work and not just dismiss it as vandalism.
people just stop and ask me what that is or they take it off to take it home.....things like that.

i mostly know dutch people. this is where i lived for 7 years before i came to spain.

Fuck a stranger without condom if ya lookin for risk.

If you refer to tags with rotuladores i def. do not see an evolution_____it's just boaring, like i said, dogs pissing on every corner.

Don't interest me.

I like the metro as this is transit space. this is where all sheep pass through.....määäähhhhh.

¿Te ha abierto el graffiti alguna puerta? ¿Lo relacionas con el diseño gráfico?
With me it's the otherway around.

stickers and xerox.

Graffiti....¿cantidad o calidad?
quality.

sucks like a million dollar bucket, ugly, stupid, not creative at all.
they are just another act that gives streetart a bad bad name.
.
poor only some nice stuff. Not very surprising.

what's easy these days?.
.
¿Qué reacciones observas, a nivel popular o institucional?
when i do my thing reactions of people is in general very positive. from kids to grannys they like it..
.

the future is so bright i have to wear shades
the US will continue to go down..........we are whitnessing the fall of an empire.
they might try the endless war to survive.
the euro could be the next major thing
we might move away from the US monoculture and embrace the differences
as this is law of nature.

¿Qué haces actualmente?
working in our main activities..........conceptdevelopment, event production, totalinteriors/identities
