Lilith Fair
When we went to the Lilith Fair

We (Vanessa and I) went to the Lilith Fair last night! It rocked! I have never met so many nice people in one place before. Everyone was nice and helpful and do you know why? Because it's all about chics! The concert was awesome! Everyone had a great singing voice, especially Sarah!

OK we got there at around 2:50-3:10 (somewhere in that general time zone) and you would not believe the line there was! It was at the Del Mar racing tract, it went all the way around! So we get in line and wait for about an hour or so to get it. We don't have any pictures to show you (long story) but it was great. We stood in line with these really nice people and painted my nails while we waited. Then, we got in! They put little wrist bands on us and it was off to fight all the other cool chics for a good seat. We spent somewhere around twenty minutes looking for a seat. Obviously with all the other people in front of us a really good seat was out of the question. We went into the stand and all the close seats were taken by those who got there before us or blocked by the huge columns. So we finally found some that were next to each other to the right of the stage. Considering how late we were, they were pretty good seats. You could see the people, their clothes, and what they were doing. You just couldn't see their faces. And that's not so bad.

First we waited forever to see Shawn Colvin, a very pregnant Shawn Colvin. She is only making two stops on the Lilith Fair tour, the one yesterday and the one today at the Rose Bowl. She has to go have a baby. The show started at 5:40 with her coming out and singing a few of her songs, closing with Sunny Came Home. Then she left and it was 10 minutes of doing nothing.

After about 5 minutes of doing nothing we decided to go down into the pit and check out K's Choice who was performing on the smaller stage all the way down at the end of the place. So, we didn't get very far before we decided it was a futile effort and we were going to turn back and then we saw the T-shirt stand. We each bought a Lilith Fair T-shirt for a whole lot of money. Then we went back, it was obvious we weren't going to get any further.

Then we went back to our seats and then back down to get some binoculars and we were touring the fair part of the Lilith Fair. They had all kinds of neat booths their. Dresses and barrettes and NOW was there and so was VH-1 and RAINN (the foundation started by Tori Amos) and then we went back to catch the end of Erykah Badu's act. And boy do we wish we saw the whole thing! She was dressed in a bright green and yellow dress with a green turban. And she has an incredable voice! And she had style and a great stage presance. We both want her cd now.

And then after that we had another 10 min of doing nothing. Then the rocking Indigo Girls came out on stage! I have never seen a band take complete control of a crowd like that before! The whole place was on their feet and moving to groove with the first song! So Vanessa and I were in the stands, alright, time to get down to where the action is! We crawled down to the opening and into the mouth of the beast we went.

With 2000-3000 people hopping around, crammed into an area the size of a really big rectangle. So we are trying to find a place to stand in the mob of people and rock out with the Indigo GirlS and I have never seen so many people get so angry so fast! We were standing there in a walkway one foot wide and the people in front of us stop! Can you imagine our fear? The people whom we were standing in front of politely told us "This is a pathway girls, not some place to stop walKing" so we finally found a place and rocked out for a while before we thought we would go back up to the stands with the rest of our things. So we fought our way back and lost the path! That is like being in the middle of the tiger cage with no way out, no food for the tiger, and no weapon to defend yourself!

but we made it back and all in one piece thank goodness. So they left and out came Natalie Merchant. She had the most boring performance. No stage presence, it was nice but we wanted to dance! And she tried to be like Paula Cole ok. And then, out came the one and only Sarah Mclachlan!!!

Woo Hoo! This is the moment we have been waiting for! She opened with Sweet Surrender and it was all up hill from there. The lights, the atmosphere, and the voice all added to the experience. Half-way though the show, a Pooh Bear was hurled on stage. (more poop bears should be hurled) and it was oh so cute! She looked over and said in her cute little voice "Is that a Winnie the Pooh Bear?" and everyone went "Awwww" and she picked it up and put it on the piano and then it fell over (oh darn) and then it sat on the floor and then she danced with it. Awww! Now if I liked pooh (which I don't!!!!!!!!) this would be even cuter! And her voice was awesome! And we got to sing with her! That was the funnest part! We sang with the cool ice cream song...

"Your love is better than ice-cream"

and then just as soon as it started, it ended :(

But we got a cup! and a t-shirt!

And free stuff (one of which is going on our web page soon)

by the way Vanessa just got her very own web page http://www.oocities.org/Athens/Aegean/8166 but she just got it so keep checking in for a bigger better and badder web site! and that in the nut shell (a bigger than usual nut shell) is the Lilith Fair. Thank you for reading.
