     I don't own Oz.

Oz shut the door to his house wearily. The practice had gone,
well, not well. Devon still couldn't get around the fact that Oz had
a girlfriend who didn't fit with Devon's own standards. Oz shook his
head. Ah well.
The phone rang. He sighed and decided to just let the person
leave a message. He went to the kitchen to get some milk before going
to bed.
"Hello, we're not here right now, so please leave a message."
     *beep*
"Oz, it's Xander. Willow's in the hospital-"
He picked it up before another word was said. "What? Hello?"
     "Oz?"
     "Yeah? What happened?"
"Vampires." Xander answered simply. "She was hit in the head
and she's sort of in a coma....Oz? Oz are you there?"
He wasn't. He was halfway to the garage. He was suddenly wide
awake. "Wow." he thought. "Bad news is better than coffee. Strike
that I'd rather have coffee."
He was lucky on his way to the hospital. There were no cops. He broke the
speed limit, and ran every red light. When he arrived, he forced himself to calm down.
He'd always been careful to present a strong front, to appear unflappable. Normally it
wasn't just a front, but Willow was different. It was one of the things he loved about her.

He managed to stay calm as he approached the admissions desk. The woman on duty
told him where to go. He knew he was close, he saw Cordelia leave the room.
     "How is she?" he asked.
"Still asleep." she answered. "I'm getting Xander some coffee, do you want-"
     "No," he answered. "Thanks."
He was just in the doorway, when something froze him in his tracks.
"I love you." he heard Xander say. His breath stopped. He'd suspected, but hoped,
then Willow moved.
     "Oz?" she said.
His heart started beating again. Xander's words, and his own concerns vanishing
in that one word. Willow was awake and had said his name. HIS name. Not Xander's.
"I'm here." he said, coming into the room. "I'm here baby."
Xander stood. "She just woke up." he said, feeling awkward. "I'll go get a
doctor." He fled.
"My head..." Willow said softly, as Oz tenderly took her hand. "Feels big. Is it
big?"
"No, it's head size." he smiled slightly. He leaned down and gently kissed her
forehead. She was all right. And to him, at that moment, that was all that mattered.
