My Roomate Is A Vampire

The Immortal concept belongs to Rysher I think. I'm borrowing
the Vampire concept from an eighties movie called My Best Friend is a
Vampire. I don't know who came up with it.

Sean looked up at the sound of the door opening. "Enter the
new room mate." he said. "You need any help?"
"Uh, no." Mike said, entering, carrying two of his bags. "I
got it." He went to the empty bed across the room and dropped the bags
on it. "So you're Sean?"
"I am. And you are Mike."
	"I am."

Sean opened the refrigerator for his root beer. He stopped
short when he saw what else was in the refrigerator. Several small
bottles with a dark red liquid. He pulled one out and looked at the
lable. "Pig's blood?"
"Um," his room mate's voice came from behind him. "I can
explain that."
	"You're a Vampire?" Sean guessed.
"Oh, so you know about Vampires?"
"I know a little, I know there's at least three different
kinds."
"There are?!" Mike ran to his desk and opened a drawer. He
pulled out a book entitled "So You're a Vampire. Your Guidebook to an
Alternative Lifestyle." He flipped through it quickly. "It doesn't
say anything like that in here."
"From what I understand, they don't like to associate with
each other." he explained. "Which kind are you?"
"I'm a Living Vampire." Mike explained, hoping that explained
it."
	"Oh, cool, how'd that happen?"
Mike blushed, and Sean got the message. "Oh," he said
knowingly. "Go you."

Mike walked through the woods, making note of certain signs of
animal life, for his science class. Suddenly, the sound of clashing
metal reached his ears. He hurried forward and entered the clearing
ahead. Within, Sean, and an unfamiliar man were fighting. With
swords.
As he watched, Sean disarmed his opponent, and even faster than
Mike's Vampire speed could get him there to stop him, beheaded him.
"Sean what the hell did you just do?" he shouted in horror. He
ran for Sean, but was brought up short by a sudden electrical
disturbence. He stared in shock, as bolt after bolt of lightening
struck his roomate. Even more strange, was that his roomate seemed to
be surviving.

As Sean rose from the Quickening, he was surprised to find
Mike standing at the edge of the clearing, his arms crossed and tapping
his foot.
"You've got a lot of explaining to do young man."

Mike leaned against a tree, taking it all in. "Why didn't you
tell me?"
	"Would you have believed me?"
"I'm a Vampire. I like to think that gives be a bit of an open
mind."
"Er," Sean had to admit, Mike had him there. "Right. Well
then how's this, I'm used to keeping it a secret, and it never really
came up."
"That's a little better. Look, I'll keep your secret if you
keep mine?"
	"Deal."

"Are you certain he's one?" the black clad figure asked his
companion.
"Positive." she said. "I saw him buying blood."
"Not usually their style." he muttered. "I don't like it."
"Well there's a simple way to find out if he is." she answered.
"The cross test never lies."

"The Watcher files confirm it." Herman sneered. "The
abomination is here. He is an Immortal."
"Then why are we waiting here?" Norman asked. "Let us rid the
world of him."

Sean never saw them coming. One minute he was calmly
practicing in the woods, and the next, he felt a horrible pain in his
back, bringing him to his knees.
He saw them come out of the forest, one carrying a sword. But
he didn't sense anything from them. "Oh shit," he thought. "Hunters."
He'd heard of them, but had hoped he'd never meet them.
He started to crawl away, but two more gunshots stopped him.
He felt himself fading. "Oh god," he thought. "Please don't let it
end like this!"

Mike looked in shock as he entered the clearing. He knew that
Sean practiced here, and had come down to see if he wanted to see a
movie with him, and some friends.
"Hey!" he shouted. "Leave him alone!"
One of the men turned, startled, and fired a gun at him. He
flinched, then remembered that bullets couldn't even hurt him. Now
if they'd had garlic or a stake... but they didn't.
He gave them a fiendish grin, and kept advancing. The man with
the gun, fired again and again.
"Not even an immortal can do that!" he cried, on the verge of
panicking.
"Maybe not," another said. "But I know what can." He pulled
a bulb of garlic and a stake from his pocket and stepped in front of
the others.
"Oh please!" Mike laughed. "You think I'm a vampire? What
kind of Vampire would I be if I can walk around in broad daylight?"
That took the Watcher aback. He wavered, which was all Mike
needed. He looked into the mans' eyes, and used the Vampire trick he'd
learned recently. "Put your weapons on the ground."
The man did as he was ordered, with a frightened look on his
face.
Sean rose to his feet, and knocked the gun out of the man's
hand. "That was all the time I needed." Sean said. "Thanks Mike."
He knocked out the one with the sword, with a well placed kick
to the head.
Mike carefully hypnotized all the Watchers to forget about Sean
and himself, and sent them on their way. "Well," he said. "That was
an adventure."
"Um," Sean said. "Are there Hunters for Vampires too?"

He heard snickering in the back seat. "Shut up." he muttered.
"So, the boy was a Vampire eh?"
	"He was buying blood!"
"He was also walking around in the daylight!"
"Oh right, like you've never made that kind of mistake."
"Let's just be glad we caught it before we killed an innocent
kid."
The Vampire Hunters let the subject drop as they drove out of
town.

The End
