Adventure 1 (Still under Construction)
The Stone Man
Background: Millenia ago the ancient Blackmoorians created many wonderful objects of power. One such object was called a Stone Man. Stone Men were constructs much like present day golems, with one big difference. Stone Men were sentient. In the later days of the empire, Stone Men and their like were granted citizenship. They attained positions of power and importance in the empire just like any other citizen.
The construction of a Stone Man is a difficult process, however most can be accomplished by present day mages with the proper knowledge. The body construction is much the same as a stone or metal golem would be. The Stone Man can be shaped into any form. The proceedures differ during the enchantment of the body. Blackmoorian wizards used complex devices and rituals to bestow sentience to the construct.
The Wizard: Several decades ago an Alphatian wizard discovered several intact Blackmoorian texts. After years of study the wizard was able to discern what the texts were about. They were detailed instructions for the creation of a sentient construct called a Stone Man.
The wizard completed the construction and enchantment of the Stone Man's body, however he was lacking a single component, the component which would bring his creation to life. The wizard was lacking a suitable power source. The wizard tried to create several power sources. Some worked, bringing the Stone Man to life, but for short periods only. Many others failed to work at all. Frustrated with his lack of success, the wizard abandoned his creation...untill recently. The wizard has just learned of an object which might be able to bring the Stone Man to life. The object is called a Soul Gem.
The Adventurers: The wizard, or one of his agents, makes contact with the adventurers and offers them a job. Once at the wizard's tower, the wizard explains that he needs certian magical components which he believes the party can gather for him. Once the party agrees to the wizards terms, the wizard explains the mission, and the items he seeks. The wizard will not divulge any information until the party agrees to undertake the mission.
The party is to journey to Aengmor (what used to be Alfhiem) and infultrate shadow elf society. The party is to locate an underground passage and make their way to the heart of shadow elf territory. Once there they must find and remove several Soul Gems. The wizard wants several different sizes of gems so that he can test the relative power output of each. The party is then to make their way back to the surface and deliver the Soul Gems to the wizard.
The party infultrates shadow elf society.
The party steals several Soul Gems.
The party must defeat shadow elves sent to retrieve the gems, and make their way back to the surface. If during their encounters with the shadow elves, the party learns the signifigance of the Soul Gems to the elves, then the party might choose to side with the elves. If this is the case, then the elves suggest (their suggestion is more of a demand really) that the party complete their mission and lead the shadow elves back to the wizard. The shadow elves and the party can deal with the evil mage as they see fit.
The party must journey back to the wizard and deliver the goods.
Once this is done, the party may think that the adventure is over, but it is not. The shadow elves have not given up that easily. They trail the party back to the wizard's abode and investigate.
Regardless of whether the party returns with the shadow elves or not, the wizard gets his hands on the Soul Gems and completes his research. The Stone Man comes to life just as the shadow elves attack. The wizard and his henchmen are killed in the ensuing conflict, as are the shadow elves, leaving the party alone with the Stone Man.
