What follows are some lovely reasons why these two are so well suited.

    Tracy Vetter, a woman struggling with her own morality. They say there's little difference psychologically between a cop and the criminals they chase, so what does that mean about a homicide detective? Grappling with her senses of duty, loyalty and compassion, Tracy also has a dark side. We see it when she comes close to letting the doctors kill for her uncle. We see it when she defends a vampire's reasons for killing. And we see it in countless other moments where she comes close to, but never quite crossing that line.

    Lucien Lacroix. What would he do with someone like Tracy? His angel ready to fall. While Tracy walks the line what might he do to sway her? Perhaps he would enjoy the game, perhaps he could grow to love this one. She isn't the innocent that Fleur was, but she is the question he fears to ask of himself. Endlessly fascinated by the flickering candlelight, a patchwork of light and dark. Pure and profane. Could they realize that there is truth in each other's eyes?

And...

    We see Tracy throwing perps down and smashing guns to their heads (AA), beating up crooked doctors bent on killing her in LNMTA, calmly and bravely facing her own death in BB. She knows about things you'd never expect the commissioner's daughter to know, she's got her ear to the ground (under ground raves OtL, tattoos LNMTA) Seems to me that Tracy had a lot going on behind the scenes than Nick or Vachon ever knew.

    She's cynical, (MBiaV 'people use people,' talking to her CO in Strings, TG, OtL) She has connections to all sorts of people, she knows somethings up in HF and covers for Nick anyway. She's faced death countless times. Her childhood friend's ghost blamed her! Her Uncle Sonny, she almost killed for him! And she personally killed at least two people TG.

    And she's even got the religious/spiritual thing going that LC would just love to debate her on. (Native American Spiritulism BW, Demonology SoB, Reincarnation Francesca, She felt 'evil' in Vachon...and LC AtA) and has at least 3 connections to the community. Jody, Vachon and Nick.

    She slaps her mother, yells at her father, uses her connections, abuses her power, does reckless things, and lies. She comes close to doing the wrong thing several times but in the end does what she thinks is right, though sometimes she isn't at all sure.

    You don't think Lacroix would -love- to nudge her in one direction over another? Can't you see him trying to corrupt her, and her -almost- giving in. Over and over again, in sort of a twisted dance. *mary starts bouncing up and down, ready to write some more DP fic!*
