The Plains

You continue on your way through the plains. Having just come from a rather startling encounter that involved being dive bombed by a winged paint you're hoping that your engagement with a creature of this realm is a good deal less frightening.

Just as you're beginning to think that you've wandered into an entirely abandoned section of the plains, a dark shadow passes over you. Realizing that it was far too solid to be a mere cloud you look upward, shielding your eyes with one arm.

The sight of a winged equine form meets your gaze. Although the details are blurred by distance, you can see that this winged paint appears to be mostly pastel in color. It's body is pale purple splashed over white, and it's mane is a brilliant shade of blue.

Studying the equine above, you begin to wonder if that is the creature you're supposed to be meeting next. A wave like flip of one multicolored wing confirms your suspicions. Your theory is dashed a moment later as the paint makes no indication of coming down to chat with you.

"Sorry," the word floats down to you from the equine above. " The thermals are too nice to come down now. Maybe I'll catch you later!" With that he, the voice sounded decidedly male, increases the distance between you and speeds off.

Somewhat surprised, and a bit put off by the abrupt exit, you blink. Aparently it had been the right paint, he just didn't want to talk. Then with a shrug you continue your walk along the faint path.

"Don't mind him. Ta's a massive show off most of the time, and lazy as well. " The feminine voice comes from the level of your knees. On looking down you realize that a zebra stripped nai (tiny painted unicorn) has snuck up on you. Her bright blue mane sticks up in a wild mohawk, and you notice that there's a tiny spiked bracelet on her tail. Strange, none of the other in-realm paints had anything like this.

"Ta?" You question. It was obviously the name of the winged paint; you're just hoping to catch the rest of it.

" Ta'havala, " the little mare replies. "His name means 'so fantastic' and boy does he believe it." A roll of her eyes accompanied that comment. There's a moment of silence while you try to come up with some sort of reply for this before the mare decides to fill it on her own.

"Oh, I didn't introduce myself, did I? Kele, or Kele'beh'kef if you must.. Although you web wanderer types usually like the shorter version better."

"Does your name mean anything?" You ask, just to keep the conversation going.

"It means 'Look at me'," Kele grins, prancing in place and swishing her tail to draw attention to her mane and tail ring. "I'm aptly named, I'm afraid." She doesn't seem at all sheepish about this fact, despite her words. In fact, she almost seems proud of it.

"Given the opportunity I can be as bad as Ta," she continues, still grinning. "Get us together and we'll start playing off each other. It's why we get along so well. I mean, most of the time you can't get two attention seekers in the same place without problems, since they both want... What is it the Blue One says? The spot something..."

"Light?" You offer.

Kele shrugs cheerfully, "Sure. Anyway, we don't mind sharing the attention as long as we're both getting attention. So it aaaaall works out. "

You spend awhile chatting with the little mare in hopes of catching Ta'havala's return. You're disappointed however. By the time you head out the winged male still hasn't returned. Faintly put out you continue on.

Onwards ho!
