Isn't love such a cruel and twisted thing? Maybe that's just in movies. Maybe that's just in trashy romance novels. But it certainly doesn't apply to Haruka and Michiru:
Their love seems odd and unethical to some, but these two lovers seem to leave these narrow-minded people in a sick world of their own. Their love isn't odd, it's fascinating. Have you ever seen someone give up her own life for her love? That's what Michiru did. When Michiru died, you could tell by Haruka's face that she was heartbroken. The only reason Haruka didn't die from a wounded heart was because she was strong; an agressive, daring fighter. But what reason did she have to live for now that Michiru had slipped away? All she could do was let out an anguished cry and scream out Michiru's name.
But she didn't call her by her real name. She had called her Neptune, even in the last moments of her life. Michiru hadn't called Haruka by her senshi title. What did this show about Haruka? Maybe it showed that she was being stubborn about Michiru's death. She was refusing to show the enemy that she was weak by being personal while in "uniform." Who knows? But we do know that it was a relief when Haruka died as well. She couldn't stay alone in the cruel world without her.
Haruka had lost the love of her life. And what a beautiful love it was; it seemed to mesmerize and awe people, even though those people covered it by protesting out loud. Most people didn't even notice anything was wrong, because there was nothing really wrong. They looked perfect together. They belonged together. And that is why this section of my humble shrine is dedicated to the everlasting love of Haruka and Michiru.
