Hino Rei (or Sailormars) is an aggresive, beautiful priestess who will do just about anything for the ones she cares about. Some may think she's bitchy (okay, so maybe just a little bit.. ^^;;), but she's just direct and doesn't quite know how to put things mildly. But what do you expect? She's an Aries, for cryin out loud! *I can make fun of those because I am one ^_^*
Rei is portrayed as the snake in the first series because she's constantly going after Mamoru, Usagi's true love. She drools over him, plots ways to get him, and goes out on dates with him, while Usagi goes around feeling sorry for herself and pouting. Boo-hoo. And when you find out that Usagi and Mamoru are destined to be together, it really is no shock, but one would expect Rei to be bitchy and try to take Mamoru or mess around with fate. But she doesn't. She still cares for Mamoru, but she doesn't show it, and no longer pursues him. What a friend! To stop showing how much you care about someone so no one gets hurt.
In the American t.v version of Sailor Moon, Rei is basically portrayed as the whiny, bossy girl that works at the temple and yells at Usagi a lot. (I'm not using the American names to avert confusion here <'o'>) But have you ever noticed that Rei actually does have a good head on her shoulders? In the midst of yelling at Usagi, she's telling her to stop being lazy and to start working harder. She may seem bossy, but the girl does have some common sense!
And another thing Rei has is the sixth sense. *insert twighlight zone music here* She can read the future through fire, as she is the fire senshi. But she can also sense the good in people. When the inner senshi are fighting Katzy, isn't Rei the one that takes the blow for the fashion-challenged gal when Sailorjupiter is about to strike at her? that's what I thought. Rei saw right through Katzy's poor, demented fantasy world and helped her through it. Katzy would have been killed by the inner senshi if Sailormars hadn't stopped them. But instead, Katzy was healed, along with her three sisters. Aww...<'o'> Now see how nice Rei can be?
And once again, I'll leave you with one final thought: How in the world does this girl fight in those red high heels?
