The Elenari Language

This page is dedicated to the language that the Elenari spoke in their homerealm before fleeing to earth. The notes on this page are incomplete and probably always be so as we only re-discover the language in little pieces.

This information comes from the workings of many people, which will be listed below for their constribuations. I did borrow some of the words from Rialians webpage with his permission. (Http://www.rialian.com).

A Brief Note about the Elenari Language:

This language is an extremly beautyful language, which is to be considered an elven tongue. It is Extremly hard to learn for those not of Elenari blood, as it has many different connoctations for each of the words. The Meanings of the words are further altered if they are pronounced differently as well as with the different pitches on the speakers voice. The Language if spoken will seem like it is flowing from the mouth of the speaker.

Pronouncation is hard for many of the words and the dialects from the different elven races that inhabit the Elenari realm make the words different from elf to elf. Just have a Tu'lari speak to a Lis'tari and you'll see what I mean :-).

There are also a variety of empathic, visional and telepathic sendings that are included as the language is spoken that even clearer defines to the elf what the other has just spoken.

So the Elenari tongue is more than just a simple language, it is an entire system for communication.

NOTES ON USE:

1. The suffix "ai", as in "Des'tai", implies a state of being that lasts indefinatly. (In Lis'tari dialect this will often be spelled as "ae".)

2. The suffix "ar", as in "Senar", will usually imply a state of being that is in the present, or temporary.

3. There is no specific verb that means "to be".

4. There are no specific pronouns for he, she, etc. These things are implied.

HERE IS THE WORD LIST:
***Adrastai: (Noun),{A-dras-tye}***

Scouts/Knights, They are extremly loyal to the crown. They follow and live by an extensive code of Des'tai and honor. The Adrastai usually roamed the country side alone for extended periods of time, before returning home and reporting back to the palace. On their trips they kept the woods safe, cared for nature and animals, patrolled the borders and noted any disturbances or unusual occurings. As they spend most time in solitude they had much time to better their warrior skills and thus are extremly good warriors. Their dress Uniforms were known to be of chrimson red cloth, and even if roaming about were known to wear a sash of the aforementioned color.

***Aelveron (Alveron): (Noun), {Ael-ver-ron?}***

This is the Name of another Elenari Homeworld. People settled this Purple-skyed world after the Drea'stari/Tu'lari war and after the Shadowbeings took over Se'lar more of the population fled there by gate. There were ruins of an ancient civilization there, but the people of them were gone. While there Technology thrived, thus turning the Elenari that lived there into a spacefaring people. We eventually lost this home too, causing many of us to flee to earth and some other places by spaceships and Gates. We do not recall what the name of it means.

***A'Leana Sar: (Phrase), ?{A-Liana-sar}***

Until we meet again, I will see you soon. this phrase is more informal than Namarie and does not have the connoctation of an actual promise to return.

***Allien: (Verb), {?}***

Those who are bodily, those being corperal. This has the connoctation that the verb would be used by the spirit-form Elenari to desribe their sisters and brothers who are no longer in spirit form.

***Araste Makatar Nih: (?), {?}***

Meaning not yet known...

***Arianai: (Verb), {?}***

You're wicked, Miscievious of nature. This Verb is usually used in Sexual connoctation, yet it is not the only way it is used.

***Ashan'rai: (Noun), {?}***

Title, Son of the High King.

***Ashtae: (Verb and noun), {?}***

(n.) The areas that seem to be in between different elements and thus they have a lot of magical energys. Crossroads, and center of bridges are excamples of these.

(v.) The area around, Between, In the area of.

(n.) Title, of individuals who were working as diplomats between the different subgroups.

***Ashtar:(?),{?}***

Temparary form of the above, may even indicate unstable form of Ashtae.

***Des'tai: (Noun), {Desh-tye}***

Des'tai means "following to path/being on the path". It is the concept of following the right way and doing the right thing that almost all of the Elenari people believe in. It also means to go with the flow of energy and that all things happen as they must and that one should not fight against it. Every Elenari has a path (it could be compared with a lifegoal-such as to help with setting up a gate to go home with). Different people have different paths, yet everyone knows for themselves what their path is, and it determines what one will do for their life. Ones path could be as a healer, a warrior, a protector, be service to a person or to a group of people, or some specific deed. It is usually the thing one identifies with best. As long as one tries to fullfill their path and walk it, it fills them with pride and a sence of accomplishment. When one is not on the path (Nes'tar and Nes'tai), they feel bad or like something is not right and thus usually find a lot of push against them and their work. (Just ask anyone that is Elenari what how they felt when they ignored their path for a while...).

***Den'shrai: (phrase), {?}***

Thank you for your help. Has the connoctation that the help was rendered to accomplish tasks on ones task.

***Desh'eren: (Phrase), {?}***

Well met, connoctation of Des'tai.

***Drachlande: (Noun) {?}***

This was the homeland of the Lis'tari. (Means "rocky austere" ) From what I have heared it is surrounded by water, and it has beaches, however these are beaches of chrimson rocks.

***Elenari: (Noun), {Elenari}***

An informal name of the people that had inhabited a realm that was nicknamed "Aelfheim" (Selar/Aelveron) by all too many Humans and Elves. Actually means "People and friends of..." They have a deep sense of honor, strong desires to find others of their own kind and to uncover any tid-bits of their culture and olden ways which may have survived their long history. They are mainly polyamerous, bisexual and tend to bond in groups, these bonds well lasting several lifetimes. They are considered immortal in a way as they are constantly reincarnate after death, both choosing their next incarnation, as well as remembering prior incarnations quite well. They are also born with a variaty of magical talents and capebilities, and are quite intelligent and thus bore easely. Many like creative arts, and adventures, yet dispise any mundane acts, people and situations. The Elenari do not like to be away from their homerealm for any long periods of time, as they get homesick easely too. That Homesickness could come from the Fact that Elenari tend to bond with places that they like, especially their first "home". (I keep wondering if it is a case simular to how we also bonded to those that we loved).

***Eluana: (Noun), {?}***

Name, Female.

***Endrastai: (Noun), {En-dras-tye}***

Title. These are the Royal bodyguards, a highly respected position among the Elenari. Those that were Endrastai wore Uniforms of Dark blue color. They Guarded the Enrai and his Family as well as protecting the palaces. As far as I and others remeber it was illegal to impersonate one of these, or wear their uniforms.

***Enrai: (Noun),{En'rye}***

Literal translation "The first one" as in the first one among equals, Title bestowed upon the High King of our homerealm. Note: Our Nobility is not like the Nobility of earth, it is different as our rulers are more servants than the ones who serve their needs. To be of any noble blood there (And even here), one is tied to a great deal of responsibility both for the people and the land which they rule. These responsibilities stay with one for a long time even after having incarnated out of regal position. Also our rulers do not (Or are not supposed to) look down upon their people as mere subjects yet rather as friends, family and yes even at times be like a father or mother to them. I hope this explains the concept a bit.

***Enta: (Phrase), {?}***

You hear me.

***Eren'rai: (Noun), {Eren'rye}***

Title, Daughter of the High King.

***Eshen'rai: (Noun), {Eschen'rye}***

Name, Female.

***Evrentilen: (Plural Noun), {?}***

Oath-sworn

***Gearen: (Phrase), {?}***

Beloved brother, has a bitter connoctation when spoken like this.

***Gieran: (Phrase), {?}***

***Gil-Enrai: (Noun), {Gil-En-Rye}***

Title, Champion of the High King.

***Ishmaen: (?),{?}***

***Jandahai: (Noun), {Jan-da-hye}***

(N). Race of Ape-like people on one of the Elenari Homerealms, which were of low intelligence. They could be compared to the Neanthertal.

(N). Curse/ derogatory slangterm used on earth for ignorant and/or stupid people.

***Lis'tari: (Noun), {Lis-tar-ri}***

These are a sub-group of the Elenari. They lived in Drachlande. They like cold weather and dislike, and will avoid for that matter climates too hot. (Note: The coldest Se'lar ever got was in the fourties, as the tempertures did not reach the extremedies they do here.) They are of albino skin with light and silver hair and are not quite as formal as the Tu'lari.

***Kaleanae:(?),{?}***

Watcher.

***Katamah! (?), {?}***

Meaning not yet known.

***Katar Neenar, (Phrase),{?}***

No idea, Don't know at all.

***Namarie: (?), {Na-ma-ree-eh}***

This is a formal way of saying goodbye. Translates Roughly to: "Until our souls remeet". Has conoctations of being said only to those that are cared about, those that are close. Also has connoctations that this remeeting of souls occurs at home. I think this can be seen as an unspoken promise to return, but here on earth it is often just used to mean, "until we see each other again."

***Nes'tai: (?), {Nes-taye}***

Means strayed far off path, "far from what should be..". This is someone who continuesly pushes against Des'tai. It is not considered an honorable thing among the Elenari. Could be considered as someone who dodges their responsibility.

***Nes'tar: (?), {Nes-tar}***

Means: "tempararly off the path". Nes'tar is considered the act of being off the path for a single deed or stray away from your path for a little while. Many people fall into this occasionally, often not being aware of what is happening. It is a situation that often sets itself straight as the person realizes that they are pushing agaist the flow of energy instead of just flowing with it.

***Salicitae Nar: (Phrase/Noun), {?}***

As Dawn rises. Also has connoctations of a beginning, the time of twilight prior to a sunrise, grey misty mornings, grey misty times of beginnings, connoctation to the time of our beginnings/creation.

***Se'lar: (Noun), {Se-lar}***

Name of our blue-skied Homeworld. Se'lar is know to be green magic high, low-tech world where many elenari first dwellt. We think the name means simply "home", but we are not sure.

***Tu'lari: (Noun), {Tu-Lar-ri}***

They are also a sub-group of the Elenari people. These are the "light" Elves, who are rather organized and quite formal in speech, appearance, and cultural structure. They dislike the coldness as in their homeregion snow is almost non-existant and temperatures are "Nice, warm and toasty". The Enrai and his court are based in the Tu'lari lands ,as are the High council and something known as the collegium. (Yes they are a part of the official snob-club of the universe :) Grin-Grin.)
