This is my first attempt at fan fiction. And as always, Marvel owns the X-men, Sinister, Marauders and everyone else you know in the Marvel universe who appears in this story. I am not making any money off this so don't sue me because I work in retail, enough said...

The Cold Hearted Truth
Part One
Kaleidopy


The man and woman kepted looking behind just to make certain that they were not being followed. It had been almost
forty-eight hours since they began to run for their lives and still they felt that they would never be safe as long as they were out in
the open. Darkness would not provide the cover that they both desperately tried to find: Not with the Marauders the ones
chasing them.

The woman fell and quickly recovered enough to grab hold of the man's hand, as he had offered it to her to take. She nodded
that she was alright and ran behind him. Fear ran through the woman's soul as she knew what would happen if she or her
husband were captured by those hired killers.

" I need to rest, please," She pleaded trying to catch her breath, after another two hours of running." I don't think they know
where we are."

" Five minutes, no more." He replied. " Besides I know where we can go. We are almost there."

" Where are we going?" She asks while looking up at the night sky. " He knows we have no place to go."

" Do you want to just give up?" He glances at her. " You know what Essex will do to us when he finds us. There is no way he
will let us live."

" You have no idea how right you are, traitor!"

Both quickly got to their feet as two figures came through the clearing and aimed their weapons at the two.

" Janos,"

" That's Riptide to you, traitor." The Marauder glared at the man.

" Janos, you don't have to do this. Essex has gone mad, he,"

" The Boss will not take kindly to you calling him mad, Prism."

" You call what he did to Vertigo sane?"

At the sound of her name, the woman broke down and started crying.

" And to think she once called herself a Marauder," Riptide sneered. " Both of you are going to pay for betraying the Boss." He
clicked the riffle he was holding. " Better thank what God you pray to that it was us that found you instead of Arclight and
Scalphunter."

" Arclight is out for your blood. She wants you two brought back in body bags." Blockbuster put in.

" And you know what Scalphunter will do to you if he finds you." Riptide starts to laugh. " You know what, I think I will radio
him and tell him our location." He turns to Blockbuster. " Keep your eyes and riffle on these two while I call the others. If they
escape while I am gone, I will let you take their place."

" Michael, listen to me," Vertigo begins after she was sure Riptide was gone. " Sinister is just using all of us for his own
purposes. When I refused to do a job he tried to turn me into one of his experiments. He is after you because you are too
stupid, his words not mine."

" The Boss has gone to Antarctica to get something he claims belongs to him."

" Belongs to him?" She yells. " Sinister claims we belong to him. I belong to nobody,"

" You're breaking my heart,"

" AND I'M BREAKING YOUR BONES!!!"

All three turned around to see Wolverine baring his claws, followed by Cyclops, Iceman, Beast and Storm.

Scott blasted the riffle out of Blockbuster's hands, and the marauder realizing that he was outnumbered retreated back into the
woods.

" You two have about one second to get off our property before I turn Wolverine loose on you."

" Oh, Cyke let me have my fun"

" Logan, you will control yourself." Storm ordered him.

" Please, give us safe haven in your mansion and we will make it worth your while."

" Wow! A begging Marauder." Bobby jokes. " Anybody else want to make a wish before the Genie disappears."

" Shut your hole, Drake," Wolverine snarled at the younger X-man. " I wanna kick some marauder ass,"

" I can name Sinister's bases, give you his contacts, anything, just give us sanctuary."

" Alright, come on." Scott sighed.

" You can't be serious, they're Marauders!" Bobby shouts. " This could be a set up."

" Logan, are they the only Marauders in the area?"

" Yeah," Wolverine said after sniffing the air. " The stink is gone."

" I suggest we welcome our new guests with an array of company that will."

" I ain't baby sitting no damn marauders, Beast."

" Nobody is asking you, Wolverine." Scott waved Prism and Vertigo into the woods. " You two make one wrong move the
deal is off."

" Yea, I dare ya,"


Inside the Mansion

" How long have they been in there?"

" What business is it of yours, Warren?" Jean eyed him suspiciously. " You have an interest in what Rogue is telling the
Professor?"

" Come on Jean, don't tell me you are not the least bit interested in knowing what is going on in that room." Angel asks her. "
They have been in there for over two hours."

" If I did, and I don't, I could easily ease drop,"

The door to Professor Xavier's office opens and Rogue and Xavier come out to the waiting X-men. " Rogue has something to
tell everyone and I want no interruptions until she is finished." He stared at everyone in the room waiting until each one gave him
a nod. " Rogue,"

" 'Fore ah began, Ah wanna say something bout Remy,"

" Look Rogue, I don't know what the Cajun has over you, but I ever lay eyes on that traitor again," Angel interrupted her, " I
will do to him what his Marauder friends did to me.

" Ah'm sick ta death of hearing bout you, Angel." Rogue flies right at him and glares at him face to face. " Seems ta me that you
the one who betrayed the x-men. You were an x-men when you joined Apocalypse, Remy didn't know us then, how could he
be a traitor when he wasn't an x-men then?"

" You are blind when it comes to LeBeau."

" And you are blind to your own short comings." Cecilia suddenly came into the room. She had been listening to the
conversation before speaking. " I have never met Gambit, but from what I have learned and read from the files that were not
destroyed he saved the X-men's tails more than once. He took a hit in the leg to use that weapon as a pick to unlock the
shackles when several of you were chained in space. I also read when Onslaught had the X-men captured Remy was the one to
break free and save you again. If you ask me, if he isn't worthy to be an X-man then none of you are either."

Jean glances at Angel, " You can't argue with her Warren,"

" I'm not finished," The new X-men continued. " if you X-men would turn on one of your own when they need you the most then
in my opinion, you are all a bunch of self ego making hypocrites and I want nothing to do with becoming an X-man. I thought
being an X-man meant family, caring about your fellow team member but I can see that it does not exist."

" No offense Cecilia, but you don't know what went on in Antarctica, LeBeau deceived the X-men while he was a member. He
never told us about leading the Marauders down to the morlock tunnels. He withheld the fact that he knew that Blockbuster and
Harpoon destroyed my wings, he,"

" And he didn't kill anyone. Can you say the same thing Warren. " Rogue points her finger in his face. " Remy might have
worked for Sinister but he didn't kill a single Morlock. You killed countless when you were with Apocalypse. I don't see any of
us calling you a traitor." She turns to the others in the room, " There is only one traitor in this room and it's me."



Antarctica

" It seems strange that someone would know the boy was here." One of the two men spoke to the other.

" Well, the man did describe him, so he has to know who he is." The other said. " When is he suppose to be here?"

" Shortly." The first one spoke again. " Claims to be the boy's father. I don't like it. I have a bad feeling about the whole thing."

A knock on the door startled both men. One goes to open the door and in walks a pale looking six foot eight inch man. He
gaves a glance at both men before speaking. " Are you the one who found the boy?"

" My friend here was the one who found him. He was checking on radar equipment for our research about the depletion of the
ozone, you know there is a hugh hole right up above Antarctica, that is why we are here. The government gave us a grant to
study the ozone effect to this continent" He notices that the strange man wasn't interested in their research, so he clears his
throat. " I don't know what kind of friends your son has but if this was some sort of college fraternity stunt,"

" They are no friends of my son's," The man interrupted him. " If you would be so kind as to point me in the direction that you
have my son then I will take him home and you and your friends can continue you research in peace."

" He is in the back room, but you need to know something before you," Before the first man could finish his sentence the strange
visitor had disappeared into the small back room.

" Kind of rude, isn't he?"

" Rude isn't the word I would use, he gives me the creeps."

" I am going in there and see what he is doing," He followed after the visitor and what he saw in that room shocked him into
anger. He pulls out a hidden gun and aims it at the stranger. " Gardner get in here quick."

" What the hell," Gardner notices the visitor has changed his appearance. He now had a red diamond in his forehead and razor
sharp teeth. " What kind of a creature are you?"

" Creature, indeed." Sinister glares at them. He cradles an unconscience Remy LeBeau in his arms. " I will spare your puny lives
for saving his, but stop me from taking him I will destroy you."

" You are not taking that kid anywhere." The first man said. " Put him down and step away."

" Race, don't make it mad." Gardner whispers to his friend.

" He doesn't scare me." Race clicked the hammer back on his gun. " Step away from that kid, I will not tell you again, Mister."

" No human dares to threaten the life of Sinister ."

" I dare anything." Race puts his finger on the trigger of the gun.

" ENOUGH!" Sinister places Gambit back on the bed and turns to the two men. He opens both of his hands and aims them at
Race and Gardner, before either men could move, two laser beams strike both killing them before they hit the floor. He turned
his attention back to the bed. " And you, dear child are mine. I told you in Seattle that you were no follower of Xavier." He
caressed Remy's cheek with the back side of his gloved fingers. " Your so-called friends left you to die, my boy, such kindness
will be rewarded ten fold." He then opened a tesseract, picked up Re my and disappeared into it.
