Chapter 4

Tobias woke me up. I rubbed my eyes and saw we were still in the forest.

“Where is everybody?” I asked him.

(They are coming. I flew ahead.)

I smiled and explained, neglecting certain parts of course, how it happened.

(Thanks.) What more was there to say?

"You're welcome." I said lamely. Just then Jake and the others caught up with us.

“Mercy, you’re soaked!” Marco said. I looked at him.

“Yah think?” I replied.

“Tobias are you ok?” I didn’t have to look up to know that was Rachel.

Yeah, thanks to Mercy. I think I blushed again. Tobias flew to her arm and they engaged in thought-speech conversation. I looked away. Here I was dizzy, soaked in sweat and tank water and they were acting like it didn’t matter. I don’t think I need to tell you I was hurt. Marco squeezed my hand in sympathy. Looking up I saw Jake and Cassie also giving me sympathetic looks.

They all knew.

“So what happened?” Jake asked. I smiled. Maybe my 15 minutes of fame would last a little longer.
