Another thing I always loved about Animorphs were the minor characters, with well-developed personalities, even though some only appear in a single book, like Erek the Chee, with his loyalty to his long dead creators, Aftran 942 (who happens to be one of my favorites) who wanted a better way to live, and even Visser Three, rotten to the core, but in the books even he is likeable and you were even able to feel empathy for him at times, especially in the Hork-Bajir Chronicles. The Visser is the only one to even be in the show, and his personality seems to have several holes.
I do have hopes for the show. There is of course, the new season (which will take forever to come out of *Canada*, why does that sound familiar?) and I hope that the news about the high-buget Animorphs movie is true. If it's well, it could entirely redeem the Animorphs image which the TV show did not help, because it is clearly meant to appeal to the younger Anifans, making us older Anifans, whom our friends and parents wonder about because we're obsessed with a "children's" series, even more when they see the show and become biased. As for the film and the future production, there are two words which I think could replace thousand : "Babylon Five." Have any of your seen the Babylon 5 [TV] movie, "In the Beginning?" It requires knowlege of most of the show to fully appreciate, but the story is still clear and easy to follow, and it is, I think, wonderfully told. Perhaps the Animorphs movie could follow the same direction: familiar plots and themes, but shedding new lights on things, giving new viewpoints that were previously denied, and adding much more character depth. And would you look at those special effects and camera work? I would like nothing better than to see something similar with Animorphs.
i'm a new fan of the show, and what can i say? i love it. i love the entire idea of it. i've never read the books, so i can't vouch for the accuracy, but it's a good show. good entertainment, good acting . . . the script is a little awkward sometimes, but that doesn't detract from the show as a whole too much.
some of the directing, i think, is really good . . . in episode two, when tobias is petting the hawk, that look on his face, and how the camera pans in on him, you can see the fear that he is feeling. you don't understand it, yet, until he explains it to them at the end of the episode, and then to rachel in episode three, but once you do, if you watch it again (like i have), you can really see that it does make a lot of sense. again, i don't know about the book, but tobias's character is quite intriguing, and chris ralph has done a great job so far playing him with just the right amount of mystery.
another directing triumph . . . in "the forgotten," when rachel is locked in the house and she keeps seeing flashes of memory, the weaving of scenes and slides gives a haunting effect, and you can almost feel her confusion.
i realize that the plot is somewhat unrealistic, that five teenagers can be responsible for battling an entire race of aliens from their own hometown, but unless the show is leaving out crucial information that the book has touched upon, then the show is not to blame. they use the idea to the fullest, and so far the results have been effective.
the acting is quite commendable as well. unlike some other kids' shows on nickelodeon (i.e. are you afraid of the dark?), the actors deliver their lines with spunk and the appropriate emotion. shawn ashmore (jake)'s talent is especially apparent in the home video "the invasion begins," in which he delivers an earnest monologue about his current situation. his facial expressions alone display all of the emotions that he is feeling, and also show the seriousness of his character. this is not something that almost anyone can do. as an amateur actor myself, i know from experience that monologues have to be tackled and delivered in layers, and at the same time be smooth and flow naturally. i'm looking forward to the rest of the videos; the monologues are sure to showcase each actor's talent accordingly.
even if you don't agree with me, and i'll bet that there are people who won't, animorphs is a quality show that deserves more hype than it is receiving now. part of the reason for this is the shuffling of time slots and the fact that it is on nickelodeon and not another network. if it weren't played down as just a show for kids, more people would know about it and be able to enjoy it. the show, the producers, directors, writers, and especially the talented young actors, do a wonderful job bringing this show to viewers like me and i honestly hope that they last a long time.
The show is great! I love the characters and the adventures. I would love to see more of Tobias. He's great, though you really have to feel sorry for him sometimes.
I think that all the books are the best and kick the other books butts. Don't get put down by those stupid jerks that say that all the aliens and andalites looked fake because they kicked Arnold Schwarzeneggers butt by 9000 km/hr and they couldn't even raise one pinky on live TV so they don't know nothing and those people that all said that the animorph TV show was just good, they don't know what they're talking about because the Animorph TV show rules and to make it loud and clear THE ANIMORPHS RULE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and the people that are not watching the show well I want make it loud and clear...YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU'RE MISSING!!!
Thank you, Thank you very much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
When I first heard of the Animorphs, I thought it was going to be some corny show that 4th graders would enjoy. Although when the marathon was on, I was hooked. I watched the whole thing and enjoyed it. I thought the actors were great and the special effects were cool. Now I watch the Animorphs every sunday and if I am not home I tape it on the VCR. I can't wait for the next season. People who don't like the Animorphs should watch it before making harsh allegations.
Hi! Well, I heard about the Christopher Ralph thing and well, NO. NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO!!!!! I can't belive he even CONSIDERED it! He's the mystery, and if he leaves? How on Earth will the show cope? I can't belive this at all!!!!! Money? Is that a big thing? Money? Don't get me wrong, I understand that an older person needs money to hold themselves up, but?? I am totally speechless!!!! He's my absolute favorite and I can't belive he'd ever leave. I can not bear to think of what would happen!! I am real distressed over this. I have to go. I have to talk to AugustPika, the runner of the Christopher Ralph website.
Animorphs is the coolest show! I heard on Nickelodeon that it was going to be coming and I thought that it'd be stupid, but I watched it, and it was so cool!!!! Now I watch and tape every episode, every Sunday. I can't wait for the next season. I haven't seen the last 2 episodes and I can't wait til they come on!!! I heard the last one was a cliffhanger, but I haven't seen it. Any one who thinks Animorphs is stupid, is stupid themselves.
When Animorphs came out I started watching this show, and I really liked so that got me into reading the books, and I think they are good too. I think the cast of Animorphs are really great, I don't think there is anyone else is better for the parts of this show, they are so perfect looking for the parts of the teenagers. Especially Christopher Ralph. I think he is really REALLY cute, it is just to bad they don't show enough of him. I just want to say this show is the best ever, and I won't miss an episode ever.
I think that the animorphs tv show is a waste of time. I agree with the person that said you don't need a lot of money to make the show really good but it doesn't seem like they even tried to make it a good show. There is nothing about it that shows the depth of character and incredible plots that the books have that make us books fans love them so much. When you look at Cassie you do not see the compassionate, life loving girl that is portrayed in the books, looking at Jake you can't see the serious, charismatic, leader that we see in the books, and so on. All in all the show is a big disappointment, but hopefully they will be able to recover and turn it into something worthwhile.
i haven't seen but about 2 of the episodes but they rule! on the other hand the books were better. i have read every1 of the books and they are da bomb! i wish applegate would drink more coffee, write more books.i wish she would write more about tobias.when will he and rachel go out?when will ax learn about tobias/tobias learn about Elfangor. hey why is there not a yeerk chronicles?that sucks.somebody needs to make more movies and produce them 24/7/365.yeah i know i skip topics too much.and about those lazarus things , you know the uh frog guys, you need to write a chronicles or a episode w/ them. oh and make a rebellion of yeerks for some reason.cuz you have rebellious taxxons and horkbajir and now most likely lizard mind reading guys.
I do not like the show much. That's cause THEY NEVER EVER SHOW VISSER THREE IN HIS REAL BODY ANYMORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think this show is poor. It would be better if it was animated or computerized. I like the morphing but everything else is poor. I would like the show to be upgraded.
P.S. I love the books.
ok first of all the special affects stink. Second of all they try and cram one whole book into a half hour period. Other problems are: they morph cloths and they don't give enough detail. Like when they morph in the book series for the first time it takes them like three minutes. In the tv episode three seconds!!!!! Last complaint is they should make the episodes an hour like wb's buffy, dawson's creek/charmed. Some of the things i do like are: I think marco is really cute and would sombody please give me his phone number. I love the book series and have every single book and my fave character is cassie. Last but not least is I think they should show more cassie episodes.
I think that the show is lacking certain things that would make it really good, one of the things is that most of the actors and actresses don't portray the book characters that well. I think Christopher Ralph has really good talent and he has the Tobias, I'm-so- pathetic-but-don't-feel-sorry-for-me thing down PERFECTLY! He is sooo cute!!! Brooke Nevin is another story, she acts worse than the classic bubblehead, she says "Lets Do It!" and it sounds like she's throwing a sleepover! She just lacks the incredible ruthlessness and power and witty sarcasm that a real Rachel should have. Boris Cabrero I can't decide, he's ok, but it isn't what I thought Marco should be. Shawn Ashmore, where do I begin! He is probably one of the worst possible people they could pick for Jake, he does not act or have the athourity to be the leader, he looks nothing like Jake, and he sounds, looks, and acts like he's acting, he is definitly my least favorite. Nadia Nacimento, she is not Cassie, clothes, makeup, and she isn't that good at making peace, she doesn't seem to know that much about animals even, she just lacks the love for animals and earth and peace that everyone admires and likes her for in the book series. I think for a human morph, that Paeblo was the perfect choice, he is just like Adam Sandler! He was exactly what I thought Ax would be, I was really happy about that. All in all,I own all the videos and love watching them, but the main reason I do is because I love the book series, and I'm a serious fan of animorphs(and Christopher Ralph, tee hee), I really wish that they would have more Christopher Ralph episodes because he is my absolute FAVORITE guy! I don't get Nickleodeon so all I have are the video's, I wish that they would come out with more though, I enjoy watching them, and though it seriously lacks the hypnotizing quality of the books, its ok. I heard that they aren't going to have Animorphs this year because it isn't getting enough ratings so hopefully they will come out with more on video. If anyone wants to e-mail me they can, my address is Heidihawk@hotmail.com, I don't know that much about the TV show, but I am a hardcore animorph fan, who can probably answer alot of questions about the book series, like why doesn't Marco morph a bald eagle again like he did in book three, and stuff like that.Well, I really like this thing where you can voice your opinions about the tv series, I hope it does well. And as a parting comment: TOBIAS RULES!!!!!!
