K.A. Applegate's two-year-old fantasy book series (15 million copies in print) comes to life, telling the story of five teens charged with saving the Earth from alien invasion.
Assisting in their mission is newly acquired skill of communicating mentally with one another when in close contact. Oh, yeah, they also can morph into any animal species they touch--acquiring the DNA patterns of lions and tigers and butterflies. Oh my.
There's a catch: An Animorph must return to human form within two hours or be trapped as an animal permanently.

Debut: This outlandish sci-fi drama is based on K.A. Applegate's book series about teenagers who can morph into animals and communicate telepathically through "thought-speech." In the opener, an unsuspecting quintet that's led by Jake (Shawn Ashmore) and includes his cousin, Rachel (Brooke Nevin), their friends, Marco and Cassie (Boris Cabreba, Nadia Nascimento) and a newcomer named Tobias (Christopher Ralph), have their powers bestowed apon them by an honorable alien. They must use their abilities to save Earth from green slug-like aliens known as Yeerks, which take control of humans by crawling into their ears.
Tristan: Is 3d technology going to be used to make "Animorphs," or are they going to use real animals?
Splat!: Yes and yes. When the highly anticipated, live-action Nick show "Animorphs" debuts September 1 at 8:30 in the nickelOzone, it's gonna feature howling, growling, prowling live animals as well as their computerized counterparts, which will appear in morphing scenes. The live creatures may be fearsome, but the computer generated ones definitely have more byte. Geez, that's a groaner.
Q: When is "Animorphs" going to be on and will you hire a whole new cast for the show or use some previous Nick stars? (from Allie)
A: The wait is almost over. "Animorphs" premieres on Friday, September 4th at 8:30 p.m. in the nickelOzone. It will feature a cast of new faces, as opposed to previous Nick stars. It should be noted that many of these new faces will be morphing into animal forms at regular intervals, then trying to save the world from worm-like alien creepazoids bent on enslaving the human race. Plus, you know, they've got homework and stuff...
