About Me

Well you asked for it, wait no you didn't, but if you're here then you obviously want to know something. So I'll tell you a little about me. Above is a picture of me, you can see more of those by visiting the gallery section. My name is Andrew Jaybird Shirar, but most people call me Andy. I'm 20. My Birthday is March 23, 1981. I live in Idaho in a little town called Fruitland.

Currently I am attending ISU In pocatello, Idaho majoring in... i don't know what.. but i will someday!! mwa ha ha!! And whatnot. Also I work at the schools dining hall serving up all sorts of crazy meals. which are yummy yum yum.

My intrests include music, books, movies, rpgs/AD&D, video games, writing (poetry and short stories), computer stuff, xc, digital photography and many other wonderous things. As for more useless information my friends often say that I am psychotic and I make them laugh a lot. I don't talk a whole lot unless I am comfortable, and I am quite insane.
Enjoy my page and check out the writing section. (if you don't enjoy it that's too bad for you)

You may find yourself asking, "What floats, Andy's boat?" or maybe you're asking wtf is wrong with this child. Well the simple answer is nothing. The complex answer is everything, or maybe nothing was complex and everything was simple, hmmmm it doesn't really matter. I like all manner of things. Keep it entertaining and I'm interested. I've been known to do anything from sitting outside all day watching clouds, to spending all day plastered to the tv or computer. Interested, wink wink, nudge nudge, eh governor eh eh?? you can find out more about me by reading about my hobbies and interests below, or you can send me $53 and i'll send you an essay about my good and bad points.

Music

Q: What kind of music do I like? A: Just about everything but country. This includes classical, alternative, rock, ska, punk, metal, pop, techno, rap, country. Just about any type of music you can name I like. Music is a very important part of my daily routine, I'm constantly listening to music or humming/singing something when the radio is not readily availiable (I even click the tunes of songs with my toungue.)

I have quite a few favorite bands, and I love thousands of songs so it's kind of hard to pick favorites. I would have to say my favorite band of all time is radiohead though. I've never heard a radiohead song that I didn't like. And whenever I hear them I always sing along. Other favorites are Stabbing Westward, NIN, Type O Negative, Pink Floyd, Metallica, Poe, The Offspring, Queen, Red Delicious, and Rage Against the machine and many many more. If you want to know more about the music I listen to and the bands and songs that I like you can check out the Music Section of my webpage.

Also relevant to the music scene for me is mp3's I have quite a few of them. You can see my list of mp3's and if you want to trade with me you will find instructions on how to do so there.

Books

I read a lot in the summer. And a little less during the school year. Uh... stuff. My favorite type are sci-fi/fantasy novels, but I'm willing to read almost anything. My favorite authors are Terry Goodkind, Anne Rice, Edgar Rice Burroughs, Robert Jordan, and Vonnegut. Now that I'm in college reading books for fun is fun, anyway I'm still looking for good books so if you have any suggestions just let me know.

Movies

I grew up in a small town. Needless to say there was not a lot to do. So I watched a lot of movies. I watch sooooo many movies, you don't even know!! I watch entirely too many. But it's fun!!! I've watched so many that I quote them a lot. And most people have no idea what I'm talking about. Like music I have many favorites, but I think one of my all time favorites is, "So I Married an Axe Murderer." Other movies I'd recommend are, The Matrix, The Waterboy, The Wedding Singer, Seven, Legends of the Fall, Interview with a Vampire, Mallrats, Clerks, Chasing Amy, Dogma, Four Rooms, office space, and The Shawshank Redemption. Another topic that I'll bring up in the movie section is anime, for those of you that don't know these are Japanese Animated films. I started watching these when I was about 15 and I really enjoy them. Some of my favorites are Record of Lodoss War, The Urasei Yatsura series, Iria: Xerim the animation, M.D. Geist and Neon Genesis: Evanglion.

RPGS and AD&D

For those of you that don't know AD&D is Advanced Dungeons & Dragons. And no it is not the game of the devil and it does not make you do strange things. In fact I'm sure many of you would think it's quite stupid. Anyway I've been playing AD&D for about 5 years. I started when I was a freshman in High School and I love it. On the topic of RPG's, or role playing games, I have quite a few of those. I used to play them quite frequently until I came to college. Also fun are other similar things to AD&D such as white wolf products like werewolf and vampire. If my friends and I weren't so lazy we'd probably play these types of games more often. But as it is we don't do it that often.

Computers

This is another one of my intrests, in fact for now it's my major (although I've been considering changing it). I have always loved computers and have been doing a lot with them since I was young. Back in the day, I was a whiz at DOS and now that windows 98 is out, I am able to do a lot with it. I am starting to learn programming languages. Beginning with C++. I know a little bit of QBASIC but not very much. Other than that I use my computer mostly for games, and talking to people over the internet. That's pretty much the computer scene for me.

Writing

I figured I'd throw this section in here as well. Writing has become a big part of my life. When I was younger I used to think writing was evil and only something you were forced to do for english class, but now I've grown to love it. I started writing for me in January of 1999 with a few simple poems. Which has now grown to over four hundred poems, a few short stories. And countless personal journal entries and rambles. Writing has become a big part of my life, and I'm hoping that someday I can get something published. If you'd like to see some of the things I've written, then click on the "Writings" button to the left.

Cross Country

Ah XC, the wonderful running experience. I was involved in xc starting my freshmen year in HS. I started halfway through the season and I loved every minute of it. I ran xc my sophomore and junior years as well. I wasn't very good but running was a really great exercise and a lot of good times came from running XC. I didn't run my senior year, because the coach, and a good friend as well, died. I am still running off and on though. If you're thinking of joining an xc team or just want to run, do it. It's a lot of fun, and a great way to stay in shape. And it always clears my head, and sometimes empties my stomach.

Digital Photography

Alrighty, Um in the last year or so, I've become interested in digital photography.. and over the last year i've taken about 2,000 pictures. Some of which i have displayed here in the Gallery Section Pretty much i've been taken pictures of anything and everything that interests me. which has mostly been my girlfriend :) But I've learned quite a bit about lighting and what looks good and whatnot. so hopefully one day this might turn into something more than just a hobby.
