What Makes a Man
what makes a man popular
is it his looks
the clothes he wears
the sports he plays
is it his personality
do people only pretend to like him
do people only pretend to like me
for I am no better than anyone else
my friendships could be just as false
all mean wear clothes, wear faces
that hide their true selves
who are we hiding from
certainly not our friends
shouldn't we trust them with how we really feel
certainly not our family
shouldn't the know us best
and why should we hide from our enemies
if the saw our true selves
wouldn't they respect what and who we really are
but still we hide in fear and shame
what's the point of our little game
I grow weary of this loathsome charade
