Star Trek the original series hit the airwaves before I hatched, but, thanks to the wonderful idea of "syndication", I can see it anytime. Click the Enterprise (and wait, and wait, and wait, and wait) for the full original series theme. The following is my mini-shrine to my favourite TOS characters. These are the folks I tuned in to see, in particular.
Who couldn't love Chekov? He's the young Ensign straight from the Academy, ready to boldly go where no one has gone before... He's got a nifty changing Russian accent and Davy Jones hair. He's also got a gold shirt... hhhmmm... those of you familiar with the Trek formula know that people in gold shirts don't last long when part of a landing party. Poor Chekov certainly took his share of abuse -- from aliens and Kirk alike! No wonder the poor fellow screamed a lot...

Scotty is another beloved character. Always doing his best to keep the Enterprise a step ahead of the enemy, whether it be those very Romulan/Vulcan- looking Klingons or one of an assortment of rubber-masked beasties. They could always count on Scotty; he was the chief miracle worker of the time. There was no dilithium crystal ornery enough to outdo him, and no trick he didn't try to keep the NCC-1701 going. Good old McCoy... we could always count on him for a scathing Vulcan remark and a description of what he wasn't. I'm sure everyone can complete this phrase: "I'm a doctor not a..." There are several endings to choose from...
