Imagine how you would feel waking up to those eyes. Can this really be happening? It's certainly very real to the people who experience it. Isn't that what we really need to address? Whether it is a purely psychological experience or it is in fact a realtime, physical event, one truth is clear. Peoples lives are being deeply affected. And on that basis alone, this mystery needs to be treated with respect and urgency.

Anatomy of an abduction

The first thing to understand about abductees is that they come from all walks of life. Not all abductions take place in isolated wooded areas. Abductees are people from all occupations and backgrounds, and more often than not come forward with their accounts reluctantly. They are sane, frightened people who fear the discrediting and ridicule of their stories.

While every case needs to be treated differently, there are some items that seem to be common to most cases. Abductions seem to take place out of time. By this I mean time seems to stop or be frozen at the moment of abduction. The abductee is paraylized, unable to speak or move, and surprisingly relaxed. Abductees report a type of telepathy between them and the visitors. They are told to remain calm and that they will not be harmed.

Abductees claim to have been implanted. They report a device inserted usually into there heads near to the brain. This device appears to be some type of tracking mechanism the visitors use to keep track of abductees. While there is some interesting X-Ray evidence for the existence of such a device, It should be noted that no implant has thus far been extracted and identified successfully as being extraterrestrial in origin.

Perhaps the most terrifying aspect of the abduction scenario is the medical testing. Examinations take place with the abductee awake and aware and completely restrained. Implants are inserted behind the eye or through the nose and a crunching sound is often heard as the implant roots itself into the head. The main focus of examination seems to be the reproductive organs. Semen is extracted from the males and ova from the women. Once taken, these seeds of life are somehow altered by the visitors and reinserted in the uterus during a subsequent abduction. The fetus is allowed to gestate for some weeks, and then removed. After this, the hybrid fetuses are "incubated" in tanks until the they are old enough to live outside of them. Periodically the abductee mothers and fathers are brought to see the hybrid offspring and encouraged to hold and love them, which is one of the most disturbing aspects of the whole process. For the abductees are naturally filled with conflict at the prospect of forming a deep bond with an odd offspring that they can only see rarely and at the pleasure of the alien beings.

This phenomenon also seems to be hereditary in nature. It is not uncommon for the children of abductees to become abductees themselves.


What could all this mean?

If this is actually happening, the implications for humanity are enormous. If we have in fact already made "contact", how does this change our view of the universe? And how does it redefine our place within that universe? What are the implications for religion, government, the economy? Even if we are not being visited right now, it is difficult to believe that we will not encounter other intelligent species at some point in our future. So how will we react when we finally do? How will we treat another lifeform when we don't know how to treat eachother?
