Welcome to the Ladies of the Heart Page
Welcome to the Ladies of the Heart Page

I joined in this organization in the Autumn of 98. Short as it has been, I can already feel the glowing warmth that comes with being a part of this women's group. This is my page to ladies who visit, and for others who might wish to become one among us.

Happy Holidays

I will contribute what I can to the daily columns, but meanwhile, I will take every effort to visit the homepages of my fellow sisters and write up a journal of my 'travels'. The holiday banner I'm displaying above I hope to give to each site I visit before the holiday season. It just might add to that festive holiday feel and take the place of a gift I hope to make but has yet to materialize.
Here is my first letter sent in to Kari.
If you've missed it, it includes a small self introduction

November 8th, 1998

Dear Sisters,

The other day, I found a letter from Kari welcoming me to the Ladies of the Heart organization. Then, almost everyday afterwards, the joys and sorrows of thousands of ladies from this association pour into my life and fill it with a warmth that is almost palpable. Experiencing some of the lives of other women from around the world, feeling their pain and sharing their happiness, it gives my own life more perspective.

The sisters who suffer from pain, either physically or spiritually, touch me with their resilience through adversity. The ones who anticipate welcoming a beloved life into the world infect me with the purity of their happiness. It's as if I were standing inside the walls of a thousand houses, observing all the various moods of humanity, and sometimes reaching out when I am able to. Certainly, after reading of the lives of so many, it puts my own day-to-day way of living in perspective. I thank you all for that, and for the extraordinary warmth that I feel (and I'm certain everyone else does) whenever I respond to your calls.

Since this is the first time I am contributing anything to the daily tidbits, I think it is only proper to begin with a generalized introduction of myself. My name is Judy Yu. In the virtual world, I adopt the less common Roman name of Verania. This was only because my other favorite Greek and Roman names (ie Clytemnestra, Medea, Hippolyta) have all been taken. However, in time, it turned into an incurable habit and has remained with me ever since. I will be 20 before the turn of the millennium, but right now I'm trying not to frighten myself with the thought of leaving my teenage years behind. At the moment I am attending college at KU in Lawrence. Major is as of yet undecided, but my dream ambition is to be an aeronautics engineer working for the space program. Come visit my site and you will understand fully why I have such an ambition. My love affair with my PC has been a very influential aspect of my life and its development. Through trial and tribulation, it has stood by me with the steadfastness only machinery can offer (pardon the cynicism). I learned to love tinkering with the hardware inside and out, forever eagle-eyed when looking for newer, better items as they appear on the market. Software and programming came naturally as well. I spend a great deal of my free time indoors working on various projects on my computer. Often times, the only place anyone can find me is right in front of my PC. However, that is simply one facet of my personality. But I had no intention of inflicting such a long and arduous paragraph on you, so the rest will have to keep.

I've visited many of my sisters' pages and have found a common trend throughout. A love for beauty, poetry, and life. I am a jaded net-surfer and have seen the astonishingly gorgeous to the downright hideous, but whenever I arrive at one of your pages, there is special meaning in the visit.

I'm afraid, however, that my own page is less a representation of myself as it is a tribute to one of my greatest interests. I wish it could reflect my love of other things, but it is a selfish project, and will not allow the inclusion of other material. One of these days I will have to "lighten up" and try to establish a personal site, so you might understand me more completely. My URL is at http://www.oocities.org/area51/nebula/4156 I would appreciate it greatly if you take the time to leave your thoughts in the guestbook as well.

It is a pleasure to be associated with this selflessly caring organization. Though I have been here but a short while, I'm very glad I have the opportunity of meeting and interacting with so many ladies. I would very much like to be acquainted with you.

Love,
Verania
