Tornadoes

As you may or may not know warm air rises and cold air falls. In a front these two forces collide they turn into a thunderhead. Scientists are still unsure of what happens but what they are sure of is that with the right combination of winds and rotation a funnel is made.Inside the thunderhead the air is spinning and going faster and faster (just what a figure skater does). The funnel is generally powered by a thunderstorm. The funnel isn't called a tornado officially until it hits the ground.A tornado can have many different strengths. The Fujita scale tells the wind speed of the force. Below it tells the different speeds of the force.
F0- 40-72Mph
F1- 72-73Mph
F2- 73-157Mph
F3- 157-206Mph
F4- 206-260Mph
F5- over 260 Mph
*Tornadoes always form at the back of the thunderhead to avoid the rain because they would lose heat and dissipate. to go back to the main page click on the link: Go To Page1 next page
