Dr. Nichopolous (sp?), Elvis' personal physician, and other doctors involved in handling Elvis' death report and autopsy made these comments on the cause of Elvis' death, according to a Memphis newspaper:

Death Caused by:
Drug-Overdose: ''He was using medication for high-blood pressure and for a colon problem, but there is no evidence of chronic abuse of drug use whatsoever.'' -Dr. Jerry Fransisco
''Elvis had been taking 'appetite depressants' earlier to curb a weight problem, but the medication was not an amphetamine. If he was takinf cocaine, I would have known about it.'' Dr George Nichopoulos *

*Dr. Nick, as he was called, said he had given Presley a thorough physical exam five days prior to his death and found him 'in fit condition'.

Heart-Failure: '' Our lab reports show Presley suffered from 'coronary athrosclerosis, hardening of the coronary arteries. The disease had caused scar tissue, but not enough to cause the full arrythmia. Although Presley had been taking prescribed drugs for hypertension and a chronic colon problem, there is no evidence of any drug-use contributing to his death. It is just really strange. I've never seen anything like it in my career.''
-Dr. Fransisco
