Notes--House Rules
You may be looking at this character and asking yourself, "What the--?".
Well, let me explain some of the house rules that Janus is based off of.
First of all, clericism is run a bit differently in Vergotha than
it is in the GURPS Religion book. Firstly, all prayers are considered
to be Mental Average in difficulty instead of Mental Hard. Secondly,
Power Investiture as a bonus advantage (much like status is for higher degrees of Wealth)is granted at different level of clerical investiture
for each god. There are minimum prerequisites that must be attained
before a priest can move up in the hierarchy of the individual churches.
Usually these prereqs are a minimum amount of theology and a specialized
skill(s). In Janus's case, Merchant is his specialized skill.
There is a new Scientific skill as well in the form of Geography.
This skill was introduced to help in the creation of map making in the
world of Vergotha. A person with good Geography and Artistic skill
can make very reliable maps of the realms. This means of mapmaking
was created before the release of the Compendium I and the Cartography
skill.
Notes--Character
Janus is a young "gold" priest of the church of Ixis. Most
of the gods in Vergotha have multiple aspects and Ixis is divided into the aspects of mercantilism and thievery with an overlaying influence of law. Thievery begets the need for law and order, so the two aspects are mutually inclusive. The thievery aspected priests of the church are known as "copper" priests.
Janus hopes to someday become a high ranking member of the Church and to provide spiritual guidance to both the "gold" and "copper" aspects of the Church's faithful. This means learning more thieving skills and improving his attributes, particurly his dexterity and strength. The favored weapons of the Ixis church are the knife and the lariat.
