Vampires Among Us

Just when your thought
They only existed
Between the covers of a book
You saw such a sight
The likes of which
You'll never forget

Such a young waif
Standing beneath the streetlamp
Then a handsome young man
Coaxed her into the shadows

With your own two eyes you saw
As he sunk his teeth
Into her warm flesh
You saw the hot blood flow
Then you realized

There are vampires among us
Looking at you
Watching you
Waiting for you

Sudden fear
Grips your heart
Can't breathe, can't think
Your body won't move
Sweat makes your skin slick

The vampire
Still thirsty, eternally thirsting
Sees you there
Smells your fear
Hears your mumbling terror
He's upon you before you can scream
