Personal History:
Thera Ra'even is 21 yrs old, half human (from her mother's side) and half Betazoid. None of her empathic or telepathic abilities appear to have been affected by her human ancestry, and although her father has passed these on to her everything else seems to have come from her mother. She has red hair and blue/green eyes, her height is 5' 6.5" and she always had problems when she was younger at school on Earth where she stayed with her father. Her parents had split up when she was very young, her mother moved away to take charge of a starbase but her father stayed on Earth as a diplomat from Betazed. Thera grew up learning a lot about her human heritage but had to learn the hard way that her telepathic abilities were not always appreciated. She took up many violent and physical sports to take out her frustration at her father's attitude towards most of the things she wanted to do, he thought she should become a diplomat like himself, and eventually she left to go and live with her mother before going to Starfleet academy.
Thera achieved top marks in all her exams, 100% across the board and even managed to score some bonus points. Her achievements she hoped would please her father but instead of being proud he seemed even more upset at her. He did not even come to her graduation where she received the Blue Ribbon for excellence in science. Thera's posting to the 'Star came as a pleasant surprise as she had not expected to receive her first choice and when she tried to call her father to let him know she would be leaving and where she would be going he would not receive her call. Her mother on the other hand was delighted for her, and Thera was greatful to all her advice. Even her mother's sense of humour seemed to match Thera's and before she left for the 'Star she found that her mother and she had become more than simply mother and daughter, their love was stronger than that and they were good friends.
Her mother had remarried after leaving Thera's father, he was a good man whom Thera liked and her two half sisters had been brilliant, she felt closer to her new family than to any of those she had met on her rare visits to Betazed. She still loved Betazed where things seemed so different than on Earth but counted Earth as her home more than she ever would Betazed.
Along with more normal possessions Thera arrived on board the Whitestar carrying a full ice hockey kit and the first moment she got she was on the holodeck to play a game. She plays regularly if she gets the chance. Things on the 'Star had been busy though and she has found her work very rewarding. Recently Thera's life has been fulfilled by 'joining' with another Science Officer on board the 'Star, a vulcan, T'lak, who whilst going through Ponn Farr realised his feelings for her as she did for him through the help of the ships counselor, this had an added bonus of solving T'lak`s problem of Ponn Farr.
After this mission, when the 'Star had returned to normal space again, Thera received the Starfleet Achievement award as well as being promoted to the rank of LtJg. As she looks forward to telling her mother about all the things she has seen and done whilst being a crew member of the 'Star her feelings for the ship and it's crew continue to grow, she has found another place which she can call home.
She has recently taken and passed the Operations course at the Academy and taken up the position of training instructor for that course. She also received the Starfleet Achievement award for her work in adapting the tricorders to detect cloaked Ka'Leigh during a recent situation in which the crew of the Whitestar diffused a coup on Valaria. At times she can be found taking one of the 'Star`s fighter's out for a spin to keep her level 7 pilot proficiency up to date. She is also fully qualified Counsellor having taken this course along with the Fighter pilot's course at the Academy.
