left rolled up by the altar of Our Lady
I had Dawn dolls out the gazoo, so my mother tells me. I was 7 when they went out of business. When I was 13 we had a fire and my sister and I lost everything. One day about a year ago I was at an antique show, digging through a box lot and I found Angie in her red mini (excellent condition, missing just a little eyelash).
I told my husband that I recognized the doll but I didn't remember her name. All I could remember was that she came with a beauty pageant stage or a fashion show and that the holes in her feet was how she stood up. I even remembered that they had banners that went across them like Miss America. He thought I was nuts and the antique dealer didn't have a clue (bought her for $1.50). Well I took her home and placed her in the "great treasures" cabinet I'm sure everyone has and forgot about her for about 3 months.
One Sunday afternoon my husband and I went to the local flea market. I went into one of the shops and low and behold there was three more. A Dawn (straight leg), a Jessica and another Angie, this one was a child's chew toy. Jessica was wearing a Golden Moment Dress and had a gold necklace on. Then I saw the it! In the back of this case, crammed so full of junk you could barely see, a Cupid's Beau outfit (on the card) with a Dawn booklet.
