Getting on Alt.Collecting.Topper-Dawn

Thanks for your patience in waiting for me to post instructions. First, for Netscape users:

Go to the "window" option on your option bar. Choose "Netscape News." A new screen will pop up. From this screen (the news screen) choose "add newsgroup." A dialogue box will pop up, into which you will type (without the quotes) "alt.collecting.topper-dawn". The messages will load up on your screen. You can then click on a message that you find interesting, and the body of the message will show up on your screen.

To reply to a message, you can choose either to reply to the sender or to post the message onto the newsgroup. There are shortcut buttons at the top of the screen that read "re:news" (reply to the newsgroup) and "re:mail" (reply to sender). Choosing re: news will send your response to the list. To create a new thread, choose the "to:news" shortcut button.

Warning!

By posting on a newsgroup, you are posting your email address for all the world to see! While this may not embarass you in any way, it does result in allowing your address to be picked up by spam-bots, resulting in your receipt of several emails advertising porno sites or get-rich-quick schemes. To avoid this nuisance, go to the options menu and choose "mail and news preferences." Then change your posting and return address to something made up (like "Tonnvane@spamlink.net"). Make sure you don't use a real provider or the provider will have to send out messages to the spammer saying that the email address bounced. Make the spammer's server do the work by using a fake provider.

For AOL users, here are instructions as posted from the newsgroup:

Here's the scoop on posting to newsgroups from AOL as told to me by a reliable source:
Go to the Preferences under the menus (it's under one of them)
Select the Mail icon
Select the option that allows you to post to newsgroups
Hope that does the trick and we'll hear from lots of AOL Dawn Crazies!

Instructions for Internet Explorer:

USING INTERNET EXPLORER:

This is the one I'm least sure of, anyone with help on how to use this please LMK

1. Go to the Go menu and choose News.
2. Here's where I'm not sure. In my case it opened Outlook. If it requires setup and asks you to put in the name of your news host, you have to call your internet service provider and ask what the name of the news host is (that's the computer that holds all the newsgroup messages. While you're at it, ask them to make sure that alt.collecting.topper-dawn is updated onto the list of newsgroups that computer carries).
3. When you get to the two-sided window for news, you should see the news host listed on the left side and the newsgroups you've subscribed to (no charge to subscribe- don't worry, be happy). When you select the name of the newsgroup on the left, the messages will display on the right.
4. If you don't see the newsgroup listed on the left, use the newsgroup button to type in alt.collecting.topper-dawn to add it to the list of newsgroups you've subscribed to.
5. When you have the newsgroup selected on the left side, look under the menus for a Post or Reply to News command to post your own messages and replies or use the Dejanews site as described below.
