I.
One, one is the loneliest number
The song plays on the Burger King commercial
And I know all the words
I know all the words
To all the commercials
And I don't even know half the people
In my class

II.
Two, Doublement Twins
Great. Another commercial
I watch too much television
Two. Twins. Sweet Valley High
With the perfect girls
And the perfect life
Perfect skin, perfect teeth, perfect hair
Perfect perfect perfect
And me
I'm not perfect
Like I'm supposed to be

III.
Three blind mice
See how they run
I wish I was young again
When the only things you had to remember
Were the lyrics to a nursery rhyme
She cut off their tales with a carving knife

IV.
Four o'clock
tick tock
I should start my homework
My piles and piles of homework
I should study
My piles and piles of books
I should clean my room
Write to my forgotten friends
I should.
Four o'clock
Is when My So-Called Life comes on
TV again
Do we notice a trend?

V.
Five gold rings
Like the Christmas song
Miss Piggy sings that part
On the Muppets Christmas album
I don't wear rings
Kori always wears rings
Beautiful sparkling rings
That steal the sunlight
She wears the engagement ring
That her mother gave her
My mother never gave me anything

VI.
Five six, pick up sticks
What's the point?
They'll only end up on the floor again
Sticks and stones may break my bones
But words can never hurt me
Yeah right kid.
Words can pierce your heart
At least bones heal

VII.
Seven-eleven
We live up the road from the 7-11
Where I run for midnight copies
Because Post-Net is closed
And I put off doing my term paper
For two months.
Aaron lives by 7-11
I always drop him off there
Never by his house
Maybe he lives at 7-11
Like the old crazy lady
Who never goes home
Who shouts and scares me
When she reaches out
But I think Aaron has a home

VII
Eight is great
Another commercial
...washes out in eight shampoos
I used that once
It washed out in two.
I dye my hair with the permanent kind now
Excellence Cream 6R
The woman on the box
Has gorgeous auburn hair
And I smell like chemicals
As I burn away the real me

IX.
Nine, Cloud Nine
Where everyone goes
When they're really really happy
I've been on Cloud Nine
When Chris came over
Other times
When I thought I was happy
The only problem with clouds
Is that you fall through
And then you hit the ground

X.
There were ten on the bed
And the little one said
Roll over
So they all rolled over and one fell out
Poor guy
At least there was more space on the floor
But it was probably cold and lonely
All alone down there
All alone and lonely
One is the loneliest number
