"There at Twilight"

there at twilight
slick twinkle sharp like airbound
broken gems, sapphire glint,
emerald glisten, topaz
shimmer in the last narrow sunrays
and bluebells madly chiming:
something passing.

music dripping too sweet as if from wildest honeysuckle,
evening breath filled soft with
eldritch song, notes like the sky
splitting gently open
spilling crystal honey
and the flowers lift their crinkled silk mouths
to exhale a silver-shot mist of trance.
someone passing.

walls of sloe twine high, underfoot
rings of toadstools spiral, bind,
urged on by the tactile sighs
of tiny hands, like petals
wisping in a whirlwind, hands of
midsummer made half-flesh:
go on, dance now, close
your day-tired eyes
loose your mind
sleep in our strange nectar forever,
all of it blooming into starlight,
midnight, tomorrow and never-was.
someone dreaming, lost.
