Abbai

A rather fishlike-looking race, shown in the first season mainly. Heavily featured in The War Prayer and Deathwalker. They come from a planet who's name sounded like..."Abba"?! Two (I THINK that was the number...) and when I heard that name, I could NOT help hearing "Waterloo! Couldn't escape if I wanted to!" etc. in my head, but that may just be me. They are about the same size as ordinary humanoids, have slightly spotted, rubbery-textured skin, a fin-like thing going down the middle of their skull like a mohawk and wear loose, flowy clothes of thin flimsy fabrics. They also seem to be a matriarchy of some kind, as their main representatives that we have seen on B5 were all women. Robin Curtis of Star Trek fame (Lt. Saavik in the third movie for just one of her "Trek" roles) played the headstrong and angry Abbai Ambassador in "Deathwalker."
Little is known about their government, except that they are evidently allies/friends of the Minbari, and evidently they wield some respect among the other races because in "Deathwalker", Ambassador Kalika was the speaker for the entire League, and was able to get warships from other League races to come and threaten the station, as well as organise the League Ambassadors, in a short amount of time.
