The Lumati

First (and only?) seen in the second-season episode Acts of Sacrifice, the Lumati are a humanoid race with some...interesting customs.
In appearance, the Lumati are pretty close to Humans, except for their rather bony, craggy faces and long side-whiskers. They tend to wear their hair long and to have thin beards, and they also favour braids and ponytails. They have weird flattened noses with thin, elongated nostrils.
Culturally speaking, the Lumati consider themselves to be "superior" to everyone else. They believe that evolution is served by letting the weak die, and that they should seperate out the weak and "inferior" so that they will have a lesser chance of reproducing and infecting the gene pool. Rather arrogant, to be sure...
Despite this, they are considered a worth ally because of their high level of technology, including ships with all kinds of weird spikes sticking out on all sides, and EarthGov wanted--and got--an alliance with them.
However, their MOST unusual cultural trait is the way that they "seal the deal". Traditionally, whenever they are about to finalise an important agreement with another party, they have to "come together in perfect harmony". Which includes PHYSICALLY coming together as well as VERBALLY and mentally agreeing...
In other words, before the deal can be sealed, they have to have SEX with the other party! Doesn't matter WHAT species or gender they are, tradition says that until they have sex the deal is not complete, and the Lumati consider deals almost sacred. They will sleep with ANYTHING. They do not consider themselves to be "the sluts of the galaxy" however; to them, sex means the same thing as a handshake.
CULTURAL ETIQUETTE HINT: If you're running a shop, and a Lumati person comes to buy something from you, pretend to be closed in a BIG hurry...
