Nic and Ros - STAR WARS Predictions

Who are we?  Simply, two complete STAR WARS addicts.  Our love for this universe cemented our friendship several years ago and we've never looked back since.

THE PHANTOM MENACE is coming and WE CAN'T WAIT! This will be a place for us to share with the world our thoughts, predictions and analyses. It will be fun to come back and see how right we were in the future! Warning: We discuss the SW trailers in detail. If you don't want to know a thing, turn back now.

Join the STAR WARS discussion list at Yahoogroups (formerly Onelist!). This list was created for "Earth 2" fans to discuss Star Wars, but anyone is welcome to join. Email Nic for more information.

Nic - December 1998

From past knowledge and the trailer, we know that Obi-Wan takes it upon himself to train Anakin. And fails. So in the future, is his acceptance of Luke an attempt to atone for what he did in the past? Is Obi-Wan reliving the past with Anakin through Anakin's son?

After seeing THE TRAILER...

I've been thinking about the idea that Anakin will bring Balance to the Force.  Perhaps they or at least some of them (good Jedi) always knew that he was more likely to be dangerous and that they needed someone to balance the light with dark.  I mean, if there is no evil how do we know exactly what is good?  So by allowing someone with great potential for evil to be trained in the says of the Force they were maybe creating something that would bring balance.  Who knows?  Maybe I'm crazy but I can't see any other way that the Force would need balancing.

When ??? (Liam's character) says to Obi-Wan about the boy being dangerous and why can't he see it, he is probably trying to make Ben aware of Anakin's propensity for evil and to let him know thtat no amount of good intentions will save him from his destiny.  This of course means that Ben tortures himself for years over something inevitable, but knowing Ben, even if it was "inevitable" he would have tried to save Anakin because Ben was a great believer in good triumphing over evil.

40x100 Spacer GIF  Question - who is the
strange character,
vaguely Asian looking?
Is she the Young Queen?
And on that topic, is
the Young Queen
Luke and Leia's mother?
There's just a bit of an
age difference!

24 January -At our yearly reunion, we had fun playing "STAR WARS Trivial Pursuit" and answering all the Episode 1 questions!  We stunned  2 friends with our knowledge.  :)

I find myself wondering about Anakin's father.  Sure, now we get the chance to learn about his mother, but who is Anakin's father?  Another great Jedi?  The story of family has been so powerful throughout STAR WARS and I'm really curious as to how far back the story goes.

The original trilogy was intertwined with strings of destiny (a theme so beautifully carried throughout the trailer!) So what led to Anakin's birth?

Secondly, it will be interesting to see how Anakin doesn't meet Yoda....

THE SECOND TRAILER!

First impressions:  I don't like this trailer as much as the first.  It seems to normal, too... (dare I say it?) "Star Trekkish".  The fight to save a world.  Ho hum.  And why did they have to use the word "Federation"??? Twice???  I half expected to see the Enterprise!

There's a whole lot more to analyse again.  Here we go!

I have a theory that Liam's character (whose name I can never recall) dies.  Why?  The last 10 seconds of the trailer...with Obi-Wan yelling "NO!" is much like Luke's scream in ANH when Obi-Wan dies.  Add this to the fact that in Luke's time we never even hear of Liam...and we know the Jedi were all wiped out.  So Liam dies and Obi-Wan goes to Yoda, just as Luke does.

Given George Lucas's penchant for circles of destiny, I can see Liam dying - the mentor/student relationship replaying in the future with tragic recurrence.  (Gee, it's hard thinking backwards!) Not to mention the line about "there are always two...master and apprentice."

I'm also guessing that Darth Maul will die in this film.  Why?  TPM needs a successful resolution, we all know it is Palpatine who brings down Anakin, and Darth Maul has no significant recorded future.  Thus...his death.

Question - will we get to
see the infamous Clone Wars?
I certainly hope so!
