Clive Staples Lewis was born in Belfast, Ireland on November
29, 1898. He was attending Oxford college in 1917 when he joined the British
army to fight in World War
One. He was later wounded in the Battle of Arras. He returned to Oxford
after the war. In 1925, he became Fellow of Language and Literature at
Oxford. Lewis had always been an athiest but became a christian in 1931.
He wrote several papers and books, and began the Chronicles of Narnia in
1950.Lewis's books about christianity have been some of the most read books
of our time. In 1956 Lewis married Joy Greshem in a secret service due
to problems with her obtaining a residency permit from Great Britain. In
1960, Joy died. Lewis became a Profeesor of medevil and Renaissance literature
at Cambridge University. He often said that he wished his death, when it
came, would be a small affair, wishing people not to fuss over it. Lewis
died on November 22, 1963, the same day John F. Kennedy was assassinated
in Dallas, Texas.
