Personalities of Heaven
Being a compilation of fictional and mythological good guys, with a present emphasis on the archons of Mount Celestia. All the celestials listed below are considered saints by the Archonites and the Brotherhood of the Planes-Militant.
Ithuriel and Zephon (sword archons)
Ithuriel and Zephon are sword archons personifying strength. They act as investigators for Uzziel (q.v.) in seeking out fiendish spies trying to reach the upper planes. They carry spears of revelations, archon magical weapons which force any shapechanged creatures touched by them into their true forms. These are used in a number of ways: to expose fiends, to humble arrogant spellcasters, and to make sure that Eladrin delegates to conferences are who they say they are. Ithuriel and Zephon, and other teams like them, leave the Holy Mountain far more often than other archons, as they are an outward sign of the celestials' spiritual watchfulness. Although they seem well prepared, the pair are sometimes surprised, as when the shapechanged fiend they found was actually an avatar of a Lord of the Nine. But someone in the Heavens (the Clockmaker perhaps) is reluctant to let them discover everything which they might.
From Paradise Lost.
Uzziel (solar)
Uzziel is a general of the armies of the Heavens. Although not an archon himself, he was once one, and thinks much like one. It is said by some that he replaced Triel in the hierarchies after the Great Fall. He commands a large division of sword archons, and several smaller teams like Ithuriel and Zephon. He can often be found patrolling the boundaries of the paradisical realms in Mount Celestia, such as Green Fields and Nectar of Life. He is said to serve one of the Crown Archons, although which is not known, and may be close to becoming one himself. Uzziel occasionally sends his forces as far afield as Garden in Avernus, for mysterious purposes.
From Paradise Lost, based on earlier sources.
Abdiel (throne archon)
Abdiel is the archon of steadfastness and honour. He was once part of the celestial band that was assigned to Triel, who is now Slug Archduke of Maladomini. When Triel tried to pervert the celestial command structure for his own selfish ends (and some say, in service to a higher traitor as yet unrevealed), only Abdiel refused to comply. He fled the rebel camp and reported honestly to his shining superiors, who dismissed the malcontented Triel and his followers. Since then, Abdiel's name has become a byword for integrity, honesty and faith. He works tirelessly to promote truth and fairness, wven when that might appear to reflect badly on the celestials, and is widely respected for his impartiality, although he is loyal in service, if not always in opinion, to his superiors.
From Paradise Lost.
