Dark Angel: 411 on the DL

Logan’s ex-wife pays him a visit and Max gets a strong lead on being reunited with the leader of her fellow escapees: Zach.

For everything that’s going on in this episode, there’s nothing major that happens in the end. The Logan plotline is ended in a simplistic and not particularly surprising way, the sacking of Herbal from the Jam Pony team is likewise resolved without anything much happening beyond the boss’s ‘new hope’ failing to turn up after one day and even the Zach plotline ultimately leads nowhere. Yes, Zach is actually found by Max, but he merely heads off into the sunset again.

While I appreciate that both Max and Logan learn important lessons that aren’t completely unlike each other, there’s a feeling that nothing’s really changed. Max’s search will continue and Zach isn’t that exciting a character. The murder mystery’s resolution is obvious, Lydecker gets no further than at any other time, and the whole Herbal storyline seems like padding. Apart from one really impressive fight sequence with Max and Zach on some stairs against Lydecker’s soldiers, there’s not really anything to watch this episode for, except as a potential set-up for further stories to come.
