Dark Angel: Blah Blah, Woof Woof

Lydecker has Max’s face plastered on posters across Seattle and the escapee soon finds herself on the run, with Zack helping get her away from danger. Meanwhile, Logan’s crippling injury returns to further plague him.

After setting all the pieces in place, it’s good to see immediate follow-up to the last episode rather than puzzling for weeks over why Lydecker is waiting to use what he knows. For a moment you think Max won’t be spotted, with one policeman waving her on through, but it turns out to be a brief respite. Her escape to hiding is nicely done, and Zack’s obvious feelings for her are carefully dealt with as Max’s situation leads her to act on how she feels about Logan. Despite it being the only real solution, the ending is a surprise, but there’s a final coda that surprises again just when you think everything has been set back to normal.

Logan’s illness is also perfectly played-out, as he believes his problems are secondary to Max’s, who returns to save her friend when he needs her most. What effect Max’s blood may have on Logan remains to be seen, but it will be interesting to see if it helps him. The relationships are shaken up by the end of this story, tying some things together and opening up new strands for further exploration. For now, there’s a kind of closure, but for how long?

One little note as well for the sub-plot where Sketchy gets temporary command of Jam Pong and gains a new level of respect for Normal. It’s funny and rounds out the supporting cast that little bit more, also providing a neat counterpoint to the main action.
