Dark Angel: Art Attack

Max joins Logan for his brother's wedding while the Jam Pony team try to save Normal, held captive by a group of gangsters until they get a valuable painting.

Somewhere along the line, something odd has happened to Dark Angel, and I think it's the loss of the story arc. Without Lydecker providing a constant threat, there's no tension about the show any more, and after the kiss Logan and Max shared, the sexual tension seems to have dissipated as well. Frankly it's immensely annoying, as it makes for an incredibly pedestrian episode in which Max beats up some bad guys without spoiling her dress. As that's the only tension in the whole thing, I'm not overly impressed.

The Normal plotline is overriding, which is good from the perspective of broadening the involvement of the Jam Pony staff, but bad from the perspective that he sits about, Sketchy and Herbal do a grand total of bugger all and it's left to Original Cindy to... well, call in Max to set things right. The story about Logan's ex-fiancee doesn't hold any interest and is utterly wasted, and the loss of his speech is hardly likely to cause the audience any stress. Max goes through the motions, beating up a few random goons and setting things to rights, but it's so by-the-numbers that by the end you wonder why you bothered.
