Dark Angel: Haven

Max and Logan go on vacation, but find themselves in the middle of a war centring a young boy.

Whereas other recent episodes that have featured some kind of scenery change haven't worked as well, this one succeeds thanks to some high quality drama and fine acting. With a traumatized kid with a secret, Max suffering after-effects of the Reds' implant that takes her out of the fight and Logan back in his wheelchair, it doesn't look good for a win by those on the side of justice.

Building gradually, as we discover the secrets of the town of Cape Haven, the finale becomes even more impressive as the real villains of the piece are revealed and it's not exactly who Logan thought. The fact that he is eventually put into the shoes of the police officers he is trying to bring to justice is a neat touch, and the way he proves he can still fight the good fight without super-powered assistance will hopefully form he and Max into a stronger and more effective team. It's been too long since Logan realized he had something useful to contribute even when in his chair.

In the end justice is served, but there's a powerful sense that leftover feelings after the event may continue to brew.
