Dark Angel: Proof of Purchase

Max discovers that Joshua is in the area on some form of quest and attempts to stop him being found and killed by the authorities. Alec offers his services, but Max is unaware that he has been captured by White and ordered to kill three transgenics or an explosive device implanted in him will explode after 24 hours. Meanwhile, Lydecker finds some interesting information about Manticore.

Continuing the new ongoing storylines, there's a vast amount going on in this episode, with the producers taking care to reveal enough but not so much the viewers get bored and find everything out too soon. To this end, Lydecker's new mission unfolds gradually, although his efforts leave him missing by the episode's end, so someone must know he's active.

The return of Joshua is welcome and makes a neat parallel to Alec, who is solely out for himself. It also brings us back to the quest to find 'Sandman' that Max was set on in the season opener that looks to be yielding some interesting results and showing Max to be more than anyone first thought.

Delving deep into the show's past, we've got the return of Rob LaBelle as a Manticore scientist, lots of links back to the first two episodes of the season and further attempts to build Logan's contact with the leader of S1W into a romantic relationship. With so much going on it's a bit tricky to keep up, but I'd rather have a lot of things going on than none. The new additions to the cast are working out nicely, but there's still a feeling that Max's friends are getting short shrift, immediately sidelined the second she heads off on a mission for Logan or herself. It seems the writers are keen to expand every other aspect of the set-up, but for some reason not this one. Give them more airtime!
