Dark Angel: Radar Love

As Max and Logan consider if their relationship has a future, a scientist is attempts to come up with a virus that will kill solely transgenics for Manticore.

There's a feeling about this episode that it is shot in a more inventive and original way with a few odd little touches to paper over the fact that there's not a vast amount going on at the end of the day. Asha has been being set up as a potential Logan love interest since the start of the season, and it looks like she won't be appearing again after events of this story, likewise Max's one-night stand from last year who has also come back. While it's a strong challenge to Max and Logan's relationship as we see whether or not they can resist temptation and wait for each other, it doesn't make for a very exciting storyline. The part where Asha is captured and jailed and Max releases her comes across as padding, as it really doesn't add anything to the story or the love quadrangle building.

The main idea, that of a scientist coming up with person-specific viruses, takes a long time to get going, stretched out by the rather pointless addition of a red herring in the shape of a decidedly freakish ex-Manticore inhabitant. While again this makes the point that most of the escapees are in danger in one way or another, I think this is a point that's been driven home a little too much by this point.

The virus is also dealt with very easily, with Max seeming to know how to save herself from exposure to it without actually being told. It's a clever plan and an exciting couple of minutes as she races against the virus to save her transgenic sibling, but the action comes that bit too late to save the episode.
