Max's Halloween turns into a nightmare, literally, when she and Joshua discover a transgenic who is off to perform an assassination.
Now, if there's one thing I can't stand it's people waking up to find it was all a dream. So this episode did bug me by the end, even if you could really see it coming due to too many things being out of character. It's an important life lesson for Max as her mind teaches her not to abandon her own kind and to show some solidarity, but it's a real shame that Normal's sudden appearance as the leader of a transgenic hunting party is a lie as it's a neat way to get him more involved in the action. Sketchy's work as part of the group brings him in more than before as well.
This aside, the episode isn't bad. It's a bit more 'out there' than you usually get in this series, but it's great to see a little more humour being injected than usual and the transgenics helping Max are good fun. Even Joshua manages to be a little more interesting than is usually the case here, moving on a little from repeating other people's dialogue. With the transgenic assassin's head separated from his body, there's some great moments with Max trying to stop him revealing his existence, and the point where she gives him a 'swirly' is priceless, especially when it involves her would-be boyfriend popping by while she's doing it and seeing her with a talking head.
Overall then, good fun but a little disappointing that it didn't actually happen.
