Xev decides that she's never had a real home to go to, so she, Stan and Kai move into a house in Prime Ridge, surrounded by slightly unusual locals.
Jeffrey Hirschfield does it again with a decidedly offbeat story that starts off innocently enough with the comedy of seeing the LEXX crew sitting about watching TV, doing the hoovering etc around the house then ends with a huge shoot-out. It builds together quite well actually, with plenty of characters being introduced and making for some effective interaction.
Britt Ekland turns up as a drunken, horny middle-aged woman, but Stan finds himself sharing a bath with her daughter instead. The other characters are pretty screwed up too, from Cleasby the lovesick lunatic who wants to kill everyone to his fellow staff members at the suspiciously named CJD abattoir and Dulcibella and her warped family. It's odd how the whole shoot-out thing seems perfectly acceptable actually, following on from the craziness before it.
I liked Xev's solution to her sex at work problem, Stan once again shows he's somehow got what it takes and Kai's lack of proto-blood will no douby cause problems next time the others need a rescue. Now they're finally stranded on Earth with no moths and no key, it'll be interesting to see how they make it back to the LEXX.
This episode, meanwhile, is odd, weird, funny, but despite it all still doesn't quite get the balance right, leaving us with an episode that needs more explanation for things than we get and one that seems to change style at the drop of a hat. Still, it's certainly enjoyable to watch.
