LEXX: Viva Lexx Vegas

In search of fun, Stan and Xev are directed by Bunny to Las Vegas, where both hope to get to grips with some of the local talent. Instead, they encounter a revived Mummy that is rampaging through the King Tutt casino.

Okay, I've seen this show come out with some nonsense, but this is utterly absurd and not in a good way. For starters we've been here before; every time Stan and Xev go off in search of a shag, something unpleasant happens to them, but usually more unpleasant to the people around them. This is no surprise, and after countless attempts to play with the same set of concepts, finding new ways for Stan and Xev to not get any sex is futile and pointless. Why not just let them have their fun for once, even if it is mildly amusing to have Stan's problem being his own poor performance for once.

Then there's the mummy. Why? It's not explained what it's doing in Egypt, why it's brought back to the casino, how it's revived (a spot of heat and some form of proto-blood I'm assuming) and why it's only plan is to roam around snapping the necks of everyone it meets. The revelation that Kai killed the mummy in the first place would work better if it was interesting or in some way explained how someone Kai killed is now on Earth and back as a mummy. Was he just less lucky than the other inhabitants of Fire and Water?

Explanations for this aside, what's with Xev feeling the need to do some wrestling all of a sudden? Her Cluster Lizard DNA might make her more vicious, but if this card is going to be played there could at least be a half-decent fight. It's quite telling that no-one on LEXX has ever tried to have any much of a fight from this evidence, Kai usually killing with his brace and the others running more often than not or relying on weapons. Xev's paltry high kicks are way more effective than they should be, and it all seems to be a time filler until the mummy pops by for some more murder. If there's any point to this episode, it utterly escapes me; a lot of moaning and the sound of necks snapping isn't a great episode.
